Nah, they're still returning a blocked kick.

Dirty hit by Danny Trevathan. Hopefully Adams is ok. Another Thursday night where only 1 team showed up to play.

Are referees scared to throw players out? I don't know what else you have to do.

To be fair, only 1 team showed up to play because there was only 1 team scheduled to play.

No reason he shouldn't have been ejected on the spot. A clear dirty hit that could (and should) have been avoided. Won't be surprised to see him get a game (or more) suspension...

I was half sleeping, had the game on low volume, and the sound of that hit still woke me straight up.

Seeing the immediate reaction from the players had me legitimately scared that was the moment everyone was fearing.

Same here. The fact that Nelson was basically calling for the trainers before Adams even hit the ground was chilling.

They've got to eradicate hits like that. Suspend him for the season without pay.

I happened to see the play in question (thanks FB)

I see a player heading for a tackle, I see an offensive player who is moving downward while in the grasp of another defender. Those movements happened to bring two helmets into the same space at the same time.

If this is "illegal", I'm not sure how much tackling can be left legal since the potential for this exists on a ton of plays.

Just give 'em little flags for their waists & be done with it I guess.

I'm imagining the tackling that would be left would be all tackles where people don't lead with their helmets on a guy who is already going down.

Ya, I think you have to throw a flag there because you need a black and white rule about about helmet-to-helmet without forcing the refs to make judgments about intent, but I'm not sure about the villainization of Trevathan. If you just watch him on the play he's charging in to make a hit at the chest-level and Adams's head drops into that spot less than a second before Trevathan gets there.

Wish I was smart enough to post a photo but pause this at about 4 seconds and then run it.

I'm not sure I see where Adams head drops into the hit. Looks to me like Trevathan just comes slamming helmet first into his head. Don't even see an intent to tackle there. He's just looking to blow up a stationary man.

He leads with the crown of the helmet, never bothering to even look at the guy he was tackling. The form is what should be an automatic ejection because of everything we know at this point about head injuries.

I tend to check in on some of the darker corners of the internet and Twitter, and yet this was somehow the first "just have them wear flags" mention I saw in reference to this hit. Bravo.

This is right before the hit. Adams' head does get lower after this, he gets twisted around a little, and the defender doesn't leave his feet. Whether the defender's head or shoulder makes the first impact depends on where Adams ends up a split second later. If you go in there at all at that speed you bear the risk of a flag. So it's smarter to pull up or go in slower. But I think this kind of hit is very common so it's hard to just assume that he "knew what he was doing" and didn't care about getting a penalty or severely injuring someone for whatever reason.

This is what I saw too, just looking for a cheap 'free' shot on someone

He is leading with his head and his arms at his side. He is not looking to tackle, he is looking to blow somebody up with his helmet.

Is this the NFLs marketing plan for Europe? Make them watch the most boring shitfest of a penalty filled game you could ever imagine?

A lot of it is the players committing fouls, but the officials are making bad calls too. The standard is horrible everywhere.

Clear TD by the Rams, incorrectly called incomplete on the field. Review screws it up too because NFL replay officials apparently are the ones not good enough to make it to the field.

I'm a Cowboy fan but agree. Seriously, how was that not a touchdown? Apparently if the ball has the slightest of wiggles on the way down, possession is lost?

It doesn't help that this crew is apparently incompetent. How do they initially call the Butler play an incomplete pass? It's not a situation of favoritism, they're just all stunningly bad at their jobs.

Another CLEAR catch by the Rams and this thoroughly incompetent crew miss it again. How is it possible to miss all three of those calls?

What was the camera crew doing on that missed field goal in the Steelers game? The player catches it in the end zone and starts returning it and they are showing the kicker and then the coach while the return is still going on.

#1 WR Julio Jones and #2 Sanu both knocked out of the Atlanta game, and will not return. And until the last couple of weeks, I did not realize there were THIS many bad teams in the NFL. Gonna be a lot of "competition" for the #1 draft pick.

Jets somehow have over 200 yards rushing and leading by a touchdown against the Jags. In the week I pick the Jags for the Survivor league. Of course.

Mariota hurt with a hamstring. Cassel in to replace him-good thing they are already down by a lot.

Edit: Mariota out for rest of the game.

Jaguars are making the Jets look like Super Bowl contenders.

Edit: Jets shoot themselves in the foot just as I type that.

Moose openly rooting for the Cowboys. Easy call as Frederick tackled the NT. Meanwhile this is the most exciting 2pt sequence in a while.

Moose also still doesn't understand that the holding penalty on the Cowboys would also apply to the kick making it a 43 yard extra point try.

Before the season I was worried the Browns had improved just enough to be out of the running for the top QBs in the draft.

That no longer seems like a valid concern.

Baltimore lost but Razorback Alex Collins ran 9 times for 82 yard, a long for 50. He got cut by the Seahawks, got picked up by the Ravens and has done well the last 2 games. He seems to be making most of his opportunities.

He had a great career at AR. Not quite as good as Darren McFadden but hoping he exceeds McFadden in the NFL.

So the Lions offense hasn't played that well, yet they are +9 in turnovers on the year and a yard away from being 4-0.

I'm so confused.

Won't happen as Alex was never a 3rd down back and he still has fumbling issues (led to Steelers TD). I'm not sure he can even have a Barry Foster type of NFL career.
