Welcome to Baltimore

I have now officially moved to Catonsville, MD, here in Baltimore County. Hello!

Some things to do in Baltimore, if you haven't already:

1. Catch a baseball game at Camden Yards. It's a beautiful park.
2. Visit Fort McHenry, Little Italy, Fells Point
3. Stroll around the Inner Harbor--it's touristy, but nice
4. To become hardcore Baltimore, go to a Baltimore Blast indoor soccer game at Royal Farms Arena
5. Learn how to say Johns Hopkins. Not John Hopkins, Johns Hopkins
6. Prepare to have your car broken into multiple times. It's pretty much unavoidable.

I almost forgot: you'll have to learn to pronounce Baltimore as "Ballmer." It sounds just like Steve Ballmer's last name.

As you get to know the area a bit, there's plenty around not exactly inside Bawlmer that you can enjoy too.

Ellicott City is rebounding from a serious flood last summer, but the downtown is worth a visit. Charming, interesting antiquing, and odd shops. Might even be a place to buy Magic cards there, too.

Don't forget the aquarium in Baltimore. Also, at Camden Yards, go early and fill up on Boog's BBQ. Boog Powell actually works the stand himself. There's a line, so give yourself some time to get it and still see the game.

As for the surrounding area, avoid Ocean City. It's as if syphilis took the form of a beach.

Howdy, neighbor!

I'm surprised QS didn't give any Annapolis tips. Take a tour of the Naval Academy and see what the spartan life of a plebe is like. Just down the street from there (walking distance) are the city docks (a.k.a. Ego Alley) where you'll find great eating. Great restaurants all around the place really. Be sure to get some homemade pop tarts at Iron Rooster.

Hey!

This past weekend I began exploring my new home. I went next door to Arbutus on Saturday to a cool movie theater there (closest one to where I live on UMBC"s campus) and spent a few hours shopping, grabbing dinner, ice cream and such. Then on Sunday I was exploring the cool strip here in Catonsvilee by the farmer's market. Was there for a few hours.

Glad you are out exploring a bit.

My tip is not to use the Walmart in Catonsville for medications or their pharmacy in general. I haven't found Walmart to be helpful in much honestly, and its hit and miss on just about everything. The Sam's club is much better in just about all aspects.

My Annapolis tip would be the PA dutch farmers market. Their little dinning area is wonderful, and we go there before navy games for breakfast. Can't beat it.
