quick summary
Forest took the early 2-0 lead on goals from Johnson and Reid. United got one back minutes after the second Forest goal on a freekick just outside the area. United tied it up with 20 minutes to go and forced extra time. Goal for United late in the second period of extra time. Own goal by Des Walker to make it 4-2 United. Another own goal, this time by United to cut the score to 4-3 with 3 minutes to play come on Forest! |

It is 4-3 Sheff. (5-4 agg.) in overtime. It was 2-0 Forrest at one point, but Sheff came storming back, tied the match at 2-2, then in the second half of over-time, they scored twice making it 4-2. Almost immediately, Forrest made it 4-3, but now time is running time.
The game just ended. 4-3 (5-4 agg.) Sheffield will play the Wolves in for the place in the top flight. |

Ok... so how is it that there are two pro soccer teams in England named "United?"

There's a heckuva lot more than two.
Not their whole name though, just a suffix sorta deal..I'm sure someone can explain it better than me, as I'm sure there's a reasoning for it? |

well i think some teams are FC and some are United. It's not their nickname (per american sports) though.

Yeah, I think every one has a FC or such extension, but the United's are always shown as "United" wherever the FC is usually left off. I was just more or less curious if the United signified something else? Maybe how the team is owned or something?

i listened to the extra time on the radio. i hope sheffield beats wolves in the final, i can't stand wolves.
Quote:
the FC is just 'football club', or sometimes 'AFC' - association football club, e.g. AFC Bournemouth. Quote:
it may have done in the dim and distant past, but i think it was just that teams liked to put extra words on the end of their name without getting too cute and calling themselves Manchester Rain and stuff like that. |
