position change

Is there any drawbacks to not changing a players position, just playing him in the new one?Meaning,if I want to swap a guy from SLB to WLB and the stupid game wont let me change him to anything but a safety, can I play him at WLB without changing his designation from SLB and not have his play affected?

In my experience, you can.

I have had luck with playing CB at SS/FS, RB at WR, and DT at DE, among others.

Sometimes players are not suited for MLB if they are an OLB. Most are, but you found the rare one's that are not

If you're thinking of playing an OLB out of position as an ILB/MLB, often times they can gain potential if you outright swap their positions as a rookie.

Changing player positions depends mostly upon height and weight.

I'm guessing your SLB is probably a little undersized. Because he's considered "too small" to play the position, he can move out of it to a position he's more physically suited for, but it's unlikely you'll be allowed to move him back.

This is actually fairly realistic. Tedy Brusci was an interior defensive lineman at Arizona, but was immediately moved to LB in New England because he's just too small to take on NFL offensive linemen. Same thing with Pat Tillman - a fantastic LB at Arizona State, but too small for the NFL, and moved to SS.

From now on, actual FOF-related posts should be indicated as such in the subject line to avoid this sort of confusion.
