The nation's leading rusher is coming into Austin to take down the Longhorns. Will he be enough to give UTEP (and their awesome new uniforms) a chance to compete with UT-Austin?

doubtful

You never know, a team coming off an emotional high and big-time win like that often comes out flat the next game. It'll be up to UTEP to push their advantage early and often before Texas even realizes they're in trouble.

Such a terrible list of games for this week. Week 1 was front-loaded to say the least.

Arkansas-TCU
Virginia Tech-Tennessee @ Bristol

and ????

Non-ranked games I think could be good:

NC State v. E. Carolina
Penn St. v. Pittsburgh
Cincinnati v. Purdue
Wyoming v. Nebraska
BYU v. Utah
TX Tech v. Arizona St.
Cal v. San Diego St.

But how many of these matchups are even that intriguing? Very few.

Gonna be nasty as Utah holds a 5 game winning streak against us. Gone are the old coaches who didn't take this rivalry serious, gone are the coaches who didn't care.

There is now and entire staff that understands this rivalry from inside and out, they know what needs to be done.

This will be the year we end the streak.

I also wouldn't mind welcoming UCLA into Provo the week after being ranked.

This is going to be a nasty, hard fought and I think, low scoring game.

The fighting Dabos against the man who called Dabo "Goat Boy" to a room full of reporters when they were both assistants.

I think the offense gets fixed this week.

Take the OVER.

That's what I keep telling myself, that the possibility is there, but I don't want to set myself up to be crushed when the Miners are, well, crushed.

I saw where Torii Hunter, Jr. has entered the concussion protocol, but it's too early to tell if he'll be available next weekend.

I feel like any sane person could tell he'd be unavailable about 20ms after the initial contact... except maybe our boy Sak and his refs

Rivalry week in Iowa. The Clowns pay a visit to Iowa City.
They are coming off a loss to UNI. But Iowa is always their Super Bowl.

Hopefully Ferentz earns his extension (FU Barta) and beats the crap out of them.

Just seeing the buyout numbers. Your close with the $40 million.
It remains 75% of what is left on the contract. If he were fired today, the buyout would be $33+ Million.

KF is again untouchable. He has a good season finished with a blowout loss in the Rose Bowl and he scores a huge extension. This is 2 seasons after the majority of fans wanted his head.

Stupid AD needs to be fired.

EDIT: I see where if the team wins 7 wins next year, 2021s salary is guaranteed. If the team wins 7 the following year, 2022 is guaranteed and so on.

For all the talk about Week 1 being the greatest opening weekend in college football history, Week 2 sure looks to be a dud.

Uhoh...UTEP's starting QB is out for 1-2 weeks with an MCL injury. Our backup is more dynamic, he's definitely a better runner than our starter. But he's very raw and while he has a very strong arm, he hasn't shown the ability to be a good passer yet. This game may get ugly if UT doesn't have to worry about stopping the pass and can load up against the run.

Another facepalm for the NCAA. I mean, it's bad enough they're suspending these guys, but why is this even a violation in the first place?

CSU is suspending the guys, not the NCAA.
Why?

Well if not you'd just take your full book allotment and buy ipads and TVs at the book store and sell them. Then we are paying players. Cant have that.

Right, but only because it's a violation and they know they'd get hit by the NCAA.

I'd love to know what the amounts we're talking about here are. I have my doubts they are giving them allowances that would have enough left over for big-time purchases. It should really be changed from "book allowance (and return any leftover money)" to "school supplies allowance". If the NCAA really feels that strongly about kids opting to buy an iPad with the extra not needed for their books (assuming you had enough leftover to do so), then put out a list of approved school supplies.

The whole thing comes across as very tone-deaf and ridiculous. And it just further pushes the narrative that the NCAA needs significant reform with regards to what the players should be getting.

If a kid is going to skip buying books with the allowance, whatever. If they don't have enough money themselves to have the books they need, they'll pay the price with their grades and possibly their eligibility. If they do have the money, well, it's not like the rest of the scholarship money is doled out on a financial-need basis.

I've got no issues with things being revised to a set amount of money per school year for "school supplies", and how the players choose to spend it is up to them.

I would bet the biggest issue here is the school itself - Charleston Southern I would assume does not have an athletic department rolling in money and would like to minimize as much as possible their costs. Probably most FCS schools are like this and would not be thrilled with the added expense of a set supplies stipend for all their athletes.

This game is about over. Louisville is on a pace to put up 252.

Uh oh, 1st down for Syracuse, maybe they can hold them under 200.

Syracuse showed me something in that first half. It would have been real easy to mail this sucker in. They just don't have enough talent to hang.

Gonna be interesting watching Louisville against the better ACC schools. I get the feeling they aren't quite ready to compete with FSU & Clemson but those could be fun games. Don't really have an idea for how physical they can play, yet.

I have no idea how Penn State is in this game. They've been manhandled, pushed around, never really had momentum, and yet they hit a play or two a quarter and hang around.

In my book, the greatest play in all of college football is when a player drops the ball right before he enters the end zone. It happens like 2-3 a year now.

Wow. Way to go CMU. Amazing play by the guy who caught the pass.

The big boys seem not very interested this week.

The play should have never happened. Six officials missed a BASIC rule in college football that I would bet 70% of this board would get.

What OKState did happens 7 or 8 times a year in college football and hasn't been screwed up in. . . forever.

At the end of the day, OSU is not a playoff team, so this loss means very little in the context of things. They are going to lose 3 or 4 more times. But if the refs understood the rules of the game like they are paid to do, the game was over.

NW is losing to Illinois St. 6-0 with 11 minutes left in the 3rd.

After losing last week to W. Michigan, NW may be in serious trouble.

What happened?

OSU ran a play on 4th down from midfield. They threw the ball down the field out of bounds and the clock ran out during the play.

The refs called "intentional grounding" and extended the game with an untimed down, giving Central Michigan an extra play.

The problem is that the half is not extended if the foul includes a loss of down on the offense. The game is over. There is NO untimed down. Again, you see this multiple times a year where the QB runs around and launches a ball to run time out. The game is never extended. Ever. Until today.

Indiana playing well again this week, I'm liking what I see from both sides of the ball. Almost don't know what to do with myself. This defense struggled hard in every game last season, and this season it is the complete opposite.
