I wrap for the most part but if I'm at home and just shoveling pasta into my mouth, I'm not against a half-assed mini wrap and then gobbling up the hanging strands as I chew.
I never really understood the cutting thing. How small are the pieces we're talking about? Small enough to balance on the fork or just a bit smaller so a couple wraps pulls it all together? If the latter is the case, I'd argue we all twirl |

I break em before I cook em and wrap em when they're done, or if I am at a restaurant, I just wrap that stuff. Which reminds me - I'm totally getting my spaghetti on today.
The key is developing a good wrapping technique that enables you to get a bite sized amount without poking around at the food too much. There is surely a proper depth and angle of twist for this. Until I master it, I will proudly be the dude with sauce all over his face. I have seen the fork+spoon technique a few times. I plan on giving that a go.

I break the spaghetti before boiling, then cut. Then I run it through the vegomatic until it is a big mushy ball. Then I roll that out and cut it into bite-sized squares.

wrap, unless I am eating a huge mound of cincy 5 way chili. Then cut. I selected wrap for the pole just to make sure I fall into the spaghetti/sauce side of the world.

Given that most of us appear to be wrappers, I would be remiss if I didn't tell you to try wrapping with the help of a spoon sometime. It does wonders.

I've seen grown men and women mince their spaghetti into rice-sized pieces and eat it with a spoon before. That shit takes some patience, too...I cut it maybe twice for my kids.

I have to shamefully admit that I cut my pasta. My Sicilian ancestry is very ashamed of me.

I break the pasta into thirds before boiling it.

I break in half, then twirl. Otherwise like Kodos, it's a simple cut/twirl combo.

Any breakage of the pasta (before or after cooking) is unacceptable. I dream of a world where pasta is eaten the way it is meant to be...

I twirl, but not to perfection. If a little slurping occurs, no big deal. This is at home, of course.

I applaud the absence of a 'spoon' option.

Using a spoon to help twirl is perfectly acceptable. Cutting your spaghetti or breaking it before you boil is not. I used to be a cutter and a breaker, and I now disavow both activities and consider them heresy.

Use of a spoon in Italy would get you sleeping with the fishes.
edit: unless the pasta was in a soup
