IWS #227 - The Results

Quote:
1. This year marks the debut of the much discussed "College Football Playoff" where the Top 4 teams will be selected to take part in a mini-tournament to determine a champion. Regardless of how you select a pool or how big the pool is there is always someone who feels snubbed. Who will be the #5 ranked and "first team out" in this inaugural season of the college football playoff?

Answers
Auburn - 5
Michigan State - 2
Notre Dame - 2
Oregon - 2
Clemson - 1
Florida - 1
Georgia - 1
LSU - 1
Ohio State - 1
USC - 1

This was to me the classic random question just to separate the field. No brownie points were given for the Clemson answer as it was an obvious attempt to suck up as they will be lucky to be Top 10 at season's end much less Top 5.

2. Stupid Junior is a pretty good athlete and Father Stupid wants to give his son the best chance at a scholarship. So the family plans to move to another state, the state with the best and most high school recruits to really catch all the scouts eyes. Stupid has some existing warrants in Miami from that incident in the 70s so Florida is out of the question. Where does the Stupid family move to?

The qualifier question. I retrospect I wish I would have left Florida in consideration, I added that last minute expecting more of a 50/50 split here between Texas/Florida.

3. The move pays off and 5* Stupid Junior has his choice of any school in the country. But lest we forget Junior is still son of stupid so he wants to make sure where ever he goes has easy academics, in fact if he doesn't have to go to class at all that is preferred. So what school gives stupid the ideal mix of a chance to win a championship, easy competition on the field, easy/no classes?

Kinda surprised the "no class" swerve didn't elicit at least 1 UNC vote...but overall I would say a pretty solid list.

4. Stupid calls his older brother who is a senior at Ohio State playing for notoriously lenient Urban Meyer and learns that the oldest stupid kid will make his first start this weekend because all 4 depth chart players in front of him have been suspended. What on God's Green Earth did these kids do to make Urban suspend them?

Silly stupid, Urban scoffs at drug use. It did occur to me while reading the list that if you count Aaron Hernandez, it seems Urban Meyer has actually played a player for doing everything on this list with the possible exception of Failing ever class. But as the rules clearly state right doesn't have to be accurate.

5. In his first season Stupid Junior's college misses the playoff but still got a bowl bid. What Bowl Game will they be playing in?

Answers
Cotton - 8
Orange - 3
Capitol One - 2

Go Daddy - 1
Independence - 1

Cotton Bowl the run away winner. This proved to be the ultimate eliminator.

6. Stupid Junior manages to blow get injured and his playing career is done. At least he still has his degree to fall back on. Remember he is stupid, so what did he choose to major in?

Answers
Communications - 8

These answers surprised me. I'm not sure communications would have made my top 5 but was a run a way for Stupid.

Judging by the score totals I'm not sure I did a very good job with this game, probably more randomness than is desired, but alas what's done is done. Without further ado:

I'm surprised question number 4 did not have anyone respond with "exchange autographs for merchandise" given that the question is about Ohio State.

I guess Stupid wasn't paying attention last week when Meyer said the reason the players were suspended from the game was due to 'stuff'.

Damn it. I was going to put cotton but I thought it was part of the playoff now so I left it out. Oh well, not like it would have helped much.

Communications? GAH! Back in MY day all the jocks took Criminal Justice...guess that's changed in this day and age. Trying to find a spot on TV/radio when their playing days are over, I guess?

Second ain't bad, I suppose.

I expected a Criminal Justice/Sociology race in that post with a few PE and Parks and Recreation thrown in.

Disappointed no one picked Sociology.

Not a single UNC for #3 washes away the last-place stain.

(Then again, I was trying to smear tOSU more than win, anyway...)

I actually picked them also on that basis. Not what I believe, but I figured they would be the easiest target.
