F*&( addiction...

I just lost my mom...today, not but 5 hours ago....to prescription pain killers and muscle relaxers. One could say I lost her years ago when she took to it as her vice and refused help and treatment and was able to circumvent the road blocks that were put in her way to get her to stop.

I also buried my sister 2 years and 3 months ago for the same thing.

People ask me how I can put up with pain and not take prescription pain killers and just tylenol. And I will always point to this, these pills that I have watched take to many lives at a young age due to the addiction it creates...

I need to vent, I need to punch, I need to stand on top of a mountain and give a barbaric yawlp and say no more!

But alas, all I can do is sit here with tears running down my face and say, fuck addictive drugs....

I completely agree. My mom's been on morphine for.. well.. over a decade to the best of my knowledge, ever since she started treatment for cancer. She literally can't come off the drugs.. in her weakened state it would... not be good.

Thoughts, prayers and sympathy to you and your family

Dennis, I am so sorry. I lost my mom on New Year's Day unexpectedly and I can certainly empathize with your pain. I'm amazed at how often and randomly it still hits me. If you need anyone to talk to, vent to or anything like that just shoot me (or probably any of us) a PM.

I am sorry to hear this, my condolences.

It is a good lesson - for drugs of any kind (including pot which many seems to be enamored with). I have a bad, permanent condition with my foot and lower leg that gives me excruciating pain. All I do for it is take Advil and clench my teeth because I fear that prescription painkillers will be bad. It is a good lesson share from the mountain tops.

I'm sorry for your loss. Death is bad, senseless death is just horrible. My thoughts are with you.

Anyone who tells you that you should take prescription pain killers can jump off a cliff. If it's a last resort and the pain gets to be too much? OK, but other than that, they should stay on the shelf. When I busted my hip, I took as few of the damned things as I could and people told me I was nuts and needed to give in. Screw that.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the support. It means a lot to me.

I am next of kin and have been on the phone for near 4 hours today with mortuary, M.E.'s office and family planning out what we are doing and when.

Being the oldest sucks having to take the reigns and do all this. It's almost like, be strong first, grieve second.

My ex didn't tell my boys last night when I called and notified her, I pick them up tonight and I will be the one to break the news to them. My daughter knows and has some anger towards grandma, because she knows what happened.

I have probably had 3, maybe 4 hours of sleep as I am spinning things in my head.
