Just an FYI, Microsoft will also be showing NFL Fever 2004 at E3. This will be a major revision from last year's version, with a lot of cool new stuff. For those with serious game-controller dexterity, check-out our advanced-passing feature if you're at the show...

I've been hearing a lot of rumors that the consoles wars may be heating up with the announcement of $50 price drops for all three systems sometime during E3.

E3 is usually the time for that sort of thing. It's good for a quick burst of console sales in the traditionally slow spring. I wouldn't expect $50, though. I'd say probably around $20 now, and another $30 closer to Christmas.

Ag - I know it, this'll be my 2nd E3.

Cam - accepted in the spirit in which it was intended

DOOM 3 could have the potential of either a run away classic or an insta bust .

Doom 3 looks like it could be one of the greatest games of all time. I would kind of be surprised if it was a bust

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

In all seriousness, though, at the risk of sounding like HM from a while back, the site I write for is always looking for new "talent" (for lack of a better word sometimes). Can't do anything to get you into this year's show, unfortunately, but if you're interested in review work, you can certainly shoot me a sample. No pay, unfortunately, but there is the occasional free review copy of a game, and, of course, the byline - which is the critical part of getting into the show on a free media credential.

We could certainly use the manpower, if there are any solid writers out there who wouldn't mind pro bono work in exchange for the opportunity to attend E3 in the future. Might even help us expand our presence (which has really ballooned in the last six months).

I believe some semi-reputable source (Like IGN or Gamespot) had a story about how some retail chains had already received new signage with the following prices to be put into effect after E3: PS2: $149 XB: $149 GC: $99.

My friends had the privelage of downloading the leaked alpha around the time doom3 was originally nearing completion (this past winter I think). One guy had a brand new computer, and the frame rate was never steady. It is definitely a $4000 computer kind of game... but looked amazing.

SackAttack, how in the heck did you get into E3? I've always wanted to go but I'm pretty sure you have to be a member of the press but I suppose there are other ways.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one, but I can't wait to see E3 this year for the Gamecube:

The Exclusives:
Mario Kart Double Dash
F-Zero
Star Fox Armada
Kirby's Air Ride
Pilotwings
Pokemon
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles

Multiplatforms
SoulCaliber 2
Starcraft: Ghost
Madden 2004

And Suprises
A secret NGC-exclusive Capcom project
Something called "Game Zero" that's first party

Also, rumors this week that GTA3 and GTA3:Vice City will be out for Gamecube and Xbox as soon as Rockstar's exclusivity agreement runs out with Sony- they won't confirm or deny this.
And, Rogue Squadron 3 is under development including multiplayer.

Time to start saving up the pennies.

Oh, and here's the news about the price drops (it's unconfirmed, btw):

Cube to $100, PS2&Xbox to $150

Yeah, I'm a member of the gaming press. It's good to be the king.

Yeah, I have an appointment with Capcom, so that'll be fun. Although by the time I see it, the news will already be splashed on the front pages of IGN, GameSpy, and GameSpot, I'm sure.

I'm intrigued to see Ratchet & Clank 2, MLB Inside Pitch (it being the only online-playable baseball game this year), Steel Battalion Online, and my personal game of show - Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Yeah, this one has been under production for a while, but this will be my first hands on opportunity with it.

I find it likely. By that time there will be new GTA games on PS2, so III and VC are hardly going to be system sellers.

Yup, my understanding is the multiplayer levels are the levels from RS2. I'm still working on a LucasArts appointment, so we'll see on that count.
