"I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 23 games, Savage hit .375 with 5 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 17 runs.

Harpooners Hogan Gets No-Hitter
Monday, July 7th, 2132: Derrek Hogan was pretty calm about his no-hitter -- until the last three outs. "You really become conscious of every pitch then. The adrenaline level kicks up even higher. And everybody in the ballpark knows a no-hitter is on the line. The crowd is on its feet. One mistake and it's all over."

But on this day at Harpooners Ballpark III Hogan of the Hartford Harpooners was in complete command, not allowing the Hammersmith Hooligans a single base hit in the 3-0 victory.

"Obviously, you never think this will happen," he said. "I don't know if it's really sunk in yet." Hogan faced 30 batters, had 8 strikeouts and 4 walks in a dominating effort. "To do this you have to have a good defense behind you, too."

"He was on from the get-go," one of the Hooligans said. "He throws quite a few pitches. He was hitting his spots and keeping us off balance. It was a great game by him."

In 17 starts this year Hogan has fashioned a 8-8 record and a 4.98 ERA.

O'Rorke Gets No-Hitter Against Hartford
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2132: Toronto's Ernest O'Rorke was right on the mark today at Ballpark of Toronto in a sensational no-hitter against the Hartford Harpooners, shutting them down 11-0. He chalked up 7 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks in a game he could really brag about.
"You might say I was the best pitcher in the league today and you would be right."

O'Rorke has offended some fans and sportswriters with confidence that sometimes borders on arrogance.

The Toronto skipper told reporters in the postgame interview, "He tossed a masterpiece today and it ain't braggin' if you can back it up. Today he certainly did just that."

A reporter asked O'Rorke if he thought the fans would appreciate his perceived greatness after this game. With a big grin on his face, he quickly quipped, "Listen, if you start worrying about the people in the stands, before too long you're up in the stands with them."

In 19 starts this season O'Rorke has registered a 11-5 record and a 4.75 ERA.

2500th Hit for Lópes
Sunday, July 27th, 2132: The Tokyo 8-2 loss to Napa Valley wasn't all bad. Something good came out it, at least for Vicente Lópes. As a consolation prize he got the 2500th hit of his career. The veteran Cyclones second baseman went 1-for-3 in the game and added his name to the coveted 2500-hit club. He was given a five-minute ovation by the crowd, which included his wife and family and quite a few former Cyclones teammates.

"I could have scripted it better," Lópes commented to the press after the game, "a win would have made it a lot more enjoyable. But what the hey... hit #2500 ain't so bad."

His career numbers show Lópes is hitting .287 with a total of 280 home runs.

He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .196 batting average while fashioning a 1.26 ERA in 4 starts. His record for the month was 3-1 in 28.2 innings of work.

This season Cross has compiled a 12-3 record with a 2.53 ERA.

Napa Valley Starter Named CL's Premier Pitcher
Friday, August 1st, 2132: Ramón Ferreira really put his best foot forward in July with 3 wins and no losses and walked off with the Pitcher of the Month honors in the Continental League. When he got the start for the Napa Valley Winemakers, it was good news for his club, but bad news for the opposition.

In 39.1 innings of work, Ferreira limited opposing batters to 29 base hits and a .207 batting average. He notched 22 strikeouts, issued 10 walks and had a 0.92 ERA.

This year Ferreira has a 10-4 mark in 24 starts with a 3.49 ERA. He has given up 133 hits in 147 innings, struck out 66 and issued 39 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .243 batting average against him.

Olivares Named RL's Best Rookie
Friday, August 1st, 2132: Francisco Olivares is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In July the Los Angeles hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .333 average with 32 hits, 6 home runs and 18 RBIs.

Currently Olivares is batting .329 with 22 home runs and 83 RBIs.

Rookie Rapper Reaps CL Honors
Friday, August 1st, 2132: What a fantastic July it was for Yoritoki Chikafuji! The Tokyo left fielder battered Continental League hurlers for a .329 batting average as he easily claimed the Rookie of the Month Award.

He tallied 1 home run, 11 RBIs and 20 runs scored in the month-long assault. Chikafuji also had 9 walks for a .406 on-base percentage.

If he continues to outpace the rookie class like this, he could very well be the 2132 Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award winner.

This season Chikafuji is batting .300 with 121 hits, 15 home runs, 72 RBIs, 49 walks, .382 OBP and has scored 75 runs. He has played in 100 games.

The new file is up! http://www.fool-x.net/fool/FOOL.lg.zip

Just an update, Andreas is back from vacation and I told him what was broken and not working. Hopefully he'll be able to help resolve the download issues soon.

Playoffs run tomorrow morning.
