Whitney Shines in Gem
Sunday, May 11th, 2092: In an impressive outing, Bill Whitney whitewashed the Tokyo Cyclones 7-0.

"I'm getting a lot more downward movement instead of side to side. That side-to-side stuff can get hit a long way," said Whitney, who is throwing with more of an overhand motion.

"It's not rocket science. It was just a little adjustment, but that's all it took."

The Georgia hurler held Tokyo scoreless, allowed 2 hits, chalked up 5 strikeouts and yielded 2 walks.

For the year Whitney has a 3-3 record with a 4.24 ERA in 7 starts.

Republic League Names Rookie of Month
Sunday, June 1st, 2092: Kyle Hamilton is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Colorado hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .395 average with 30 hits, 3 home runs and 17 RBIs.

This year Hamilton is hitting .348 with 49 hits, 4 home runs, 30 RBIs and has scored 21 runs.

Great Day for Paquet, Hits for Cycle
Monday, June 16th, 2092: The big buzz in the baseball world is about Branson Paquet's performance today at Ballpark of Hammersmith against Hammersmith. Paquet had 4 hits en route to hitting for the cycle, leading the charge for the Colorado 5-3 triumph over the Hooligans. A cycle requires all of the four types of hits possible -- single, double, triple and home run -- a batter has to have power, speed and a little luck to do it.

"It was one of those games you dream about," Paquet told the press. "I never expected to do something like this when I showed up at the park today. All you really want to do is hit it hard and put it into play. The hits will come." And the hits did come today. The 29-year-old left fielder rounded out his superb batting display with 4 hits in 6 at-bats, 3 runs batted in and 1 run scored.

B. Paquet doubled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off K. Alisjahbana in the 9th and hit a two-run triple in the 11th.

So far in 2092 Paquet is batting .299 with 7 home runs, 37 RBIs and 47 runs scored. He has 75 hits in 251 at-bats and a .399 OBP.

Hooligans Hurler Named June's #1 Starter
Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: A 4-0 record with a 1.13 ERA is a pretty good month for most any pitcher. The Republic League thought it was worthy of an award and named Miguel Angel López, starter for the Hammersmith Hooligans, June's Pitcher of the Month.

He also held the opposition to a .242 average while posting 29 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.

To this point in the season López has 8 wins and 4 losses and a 3.05 ERA.

Devils Martínez June's Top Hurler
Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: Juan Martínez has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in June and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Devils bullpen ace collected 8 saves and 13 strikeouts in 15.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .154 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 4-0 record.

To date this season Martínez has 22 saves with a 6-3 mark and 1.99 ERA.

Denton in a Class by Himself
Tuesday, July 1st, 2092: Youngster Joseph Denton emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Colorado deserved the honor, batting .350 with 6 home runs and 20 runs batted in. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Denton enjoy the limelight.

This year Denton is hitting at a .318 pace with 12 home runs and 51 RBIs. He has played in 76 games and scored 47 times.

Harold Jones Captures Rookie of Month

FOOL News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced
Thursday, July 10th, 2092: It is not an easy task to pick the best players for the annual baseball classic -- the All-Star Game. It is not possible to please everybody. Dang it! Just knew we had pulled off the monthly award sweep with both the hitter and pitcher, but apparently neither of our big hitting rookies showed up this month.
