Thumbs down Around the Piece of Poopie

Around the Horn

Is this the worst piece of crap on ESPN or what? I am waiting for PTI and happen to have the TV on ESPN. Mistake! This show sucks! Max Kellerman is horrible, and the premise is a joke: give talking heads "points" for coming up with a sound byte. I guess you get more points if you put down one of the other guests. Yippie.

Ugggghh. TV is really horrible these days.

I agree. I am very rarely home to see it, but when I am I have been annoyed by the show.

to quote the sports guy from ESPN page 2:

When you think about it, CBS's decision to shamelessly rip off CSI with "CSI: Miami" was vaguely reminiscent of ESPN shamelessly ripping off "PTI" with "Around the Horn," wasn't it? And yes, this paragraph has no chance of staying in unless my editors fall asleep.

Probably wetting their pants to have found a successful 5:30 show, ESPN basically wanted to extend it to a full hour. It is a terrible show in my opinion, and the opinion of everyone else who I've ever talked to.

The worst thing is that it has gotten considerably better since it debuted. I watched it the first week and the reporters looked embarrassed to be there. Definately a piece of crap.

Darn, I thought this was a thread about the old British Radio show Around The Horn, with seriously non PC humour.
Didn't know ESPN had hijacked the name

I think the format is okay.. i just don't feel Kellerman works as the host..

Around the horn with say.... Kenny Mayne or say Craig Kilborn as the host.. and with Journalist's with a pulse.. Say.. Jason Whitlock.. Marroiti(normal on show), Blackistone(from what i've watched he seems to be fairly well spoken), and well.. find a fourth maybe bob ryan..

But as it seems now, the show is at the whim of Kellerman, who should stick to boxing..

I really like Kellerman, but not on this show. He's always a good interview on Kornheiser's radio show, so I figure that's why they gave him a shot with Around the Horn. You have sportswriters, not just sportswriters but middle-aged and older sportswriters, trying to be something they are not, bold and brash. Kellerman is a boxing guy, and would probably put together a decent boxing show if anyone at all cared about the sport.
