Today is the greatest day that Smashing Pumpkins haters have ever known, as they were ejected by a majority of the votes in perhaps the worst voter turnout ever.

How They Went:

1. Jennifer Lopez, 26 of 60 votes, 43.33%, Michael Jackson second with 14 votes.
2. Michael Jackson, 15 of 38 votes, 39.47%, Rush second with 6 votes.
3. Madonna, 18 of 40 votes, 45.00%, Rush second with 11 votes.
4. Rush, 8 of 26 votes, 30.77%, 3 others tied with 5 votes.
5. Jimmy Buffett, 15 of 33 votes, 45.45%, Smashing Pumpkins second with 8 votes.
6. Smashing Pumpkins, 14 of 27 votes, 51.85%, Genesis second with 7 votes.

Get the Beatles out of here. I really like the other 3.

I, too, voted for the Beatles.

To quote Phil: "I don't, no no, I don't, I don't want to goooooooooo!" Save Genesis!

Hmm...I voted for Springsteen. If I had known of this anti-Beatles coalition beforehand, though, I would have joined...

Don't mind me, I'll be the guy in the corner chanting "Aerosmith sucks!"

I'm with you after Genesis goes. Basically, I'm weighing those assinine puppet videos vs. Aerosmith's post-1983 whore job, and giving Aerosmith credit for their pre-1983 rockin'.

You've got a point there, but I find the offenses to be worse in Aerosmith's case and better in Genesis's.

I can't vote out a band that did "Abacab" over a band that did "Love in a Elevator".

Of course, there is "Sussudio" to weigh in. Or was that a Phil Collins solo effort? So much crap to keep straight....

See, I would equate Abacab with Toys in the Attic, and Sussudio with Love in an Elevator. It's close either way, but I liked Aerosmith at one point. One of the only Genesis songs that I really liked was Misunderstanding. The rest is blah to me.

Edit to replace Sussudio with that We Can't dance song...

When Robin Williams had that blow up with Disney after Aladdin, I had a law school friend who wrote a great parody to the tune of Sussudio called "Sue, sue the Studio."

The artists / bands that have the most music in my collection include Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Phil Collins, Genesis, and Weird Al.

I don't have ANY Beatles albums.

I would make fun of you for not knowing music from a hole in the ground... but to each his own!

At one of my old college apartments, there was an old guy that came a few times a week to dig holes in the ground across the street for no apparent reason.

This is getting ugly. At least vote for the Beatles so we can close the gap a little.
