The FOFC Keeper League - 2010 Season

Tentative Schedule:

Quote:
July 28th - Owners Meeting. We have two proposals up for voting. They will be posted in this thread and you can post your vote in here.

August 2nd - All keepers are due, leaving seven days before the draft to prepare. Remember, we have four keepers this year (QB,RB,WR/TE and Last Season Rookie.)

August 9th - Draft starts with a 12 hour limit per pick. The draft clock will be active from 10:00 AM EST until 12:00 AM EST. Since the FleaFlicker site doesn't offer an extended online draft, we will run this years from this messageboard. I will keep the rosters updated on FleaFlicker to make it easier on the owners.

August 23rd - Draft continues with normal draft rules. Two hours per pick with the clock active from 10:00 AM EST until 12:00 AM EST. You are encouraged to send in a list if you will not be around.

Keeper Rules:
-The amount of years a player can be a keeper is limited to three.
-If a player is picked as a "rookie keeper", it's counts as the first year of his three.
-This number is reset if a player is moved in a trade.

Btw, do we have a count of how many years each 2009 keeper was "kept"?

2009 was the first year for that rule.... so everyone that was a keeper last season is at 1.

Oh snap, #2. I like that. Probably will be the second year in a row I won't have a rookie keeper either...I love that rule, and then I never end up with rookies on my team...wtf!

Out of curiosity, are we allowed to make moves after the league championship game? Does Fleaflicker allow that?

Teams that don't keep a rookie get an extra pick at the end of the draft, right?

All owners will need to vote on these proposals. Majority rules. Post your votes in this thread.

1. Make the TE position a mandatory start position. The TE position would replace the WR/TE slot in the starting lineup. This would start for the 2010 season. The keeper slot would stay under it's current classification of WR or TE. Yes or No

2. Change draft order from snake to a straight draft. The draft order would be 1-12, every round based on the decided draft order. This would start with the 2011 draft. Yes or No

3. Allow off-season trades from after the championship game until before keepers are announced. Yes or No

Anyone who thinks the TE position isn't deep enough I'll be more than happy to cut and paste my argument about it from the other thread here.

Yes, as long as it means you can only trade people you designate as your keepers.

Ditto to this for rule #3. So basically, you would still technically be keeping that person (meaning it would have to be within the rules for you to keep them), but then you trade them away. The player you receive would not count as a previous year keeper.

Exactly, there should be no trading after the trade deadline until you've picked your keepers...then you can trade your keepers if you like.

Sorry- new job and moving, yeah, hadn't checked the board in a couple of weeks. If keepers have been picked for me, then I'll go with what were picked. Otherwise, I can come up with some tonight

Voting
1. No- 2011, sure I'm for approving it then. But not post-season, pre-keepers
2. No- I suppose that's more of a handicap to the previous season's player but it does encourage boom/bust cycles; I don't really have a strong feeling either way
3. Yes- if we're talking about pre-keepers being declared; seems silly after keepers have been declared

Keepers
QB: Brady
RB: Jones-Drew (enjoy Ray Rice, JAG- it was going to be one or the other)
WR: Fitzgerald
RK: Greene

SI, I don't get your logic for not voting yes for TE this season, what difference does it make if it is pre keeper/ post season?

TEs are easy enough to snag during the season because they're inherently almost all worth less than WRs. I suspect, if we look at last year's rosters, there are maybe 5ish TEs total on all teams. If you didn't have a good WR keeper, there's probably better value to be had with keeping a TE this season since it's much easier to get. It's not really a big deal to me but I think this year is too short of notice.

Then again, in the end, I just feel TEs are kindof stupid in a fantasy sense because there are a couple of decent ones and then everyone else gets a lucky good week every once in a while. None are as good as the #1 WRs and only a handful are even as valuable as #2 and #3 WRs. So I'm just not that inclined to include them in general.

meh, it's like saying there aren't many good hitting catchers in baseball so we will just leave them off fantasy baseball rosters.

The difference being you have to play with a catcher in a real life baseball game. You don't have to play with a TE.
