With the CLCS matchup being Washington vs Havana, I wonder if this is being used as a nickname for this series:

The Cuban Missle Crisis

The 2012 FOOL-X Classic is set!

It is a matchup of David vs Goliath! The defending Champion Spring Lions roar into the Classic with the best record in all of baseball during the regular season. The Lions have the best winning percentage in the history of FOOL-X with a 4598-3834 record, and a back to back Classic win here could give them their 6th title in franchise history, tying them for the all time lead.

Havana on the other hand are making it to the Classic for the first time in franchise history, the only FOOL-X franchise prior to this season to never have appeared in the Classic. Their 2 postseason appearances are the lowest of any franchise in FOOL-X history. They have their work cut out for them however as they had the weakest regular season record of the four playoff teams. Their CLCS victory over Washington helped revenge their only previous postseason loss (1994), so the Banana Sluggers have the belief that they can topple the giant here.

Havana 6, Spring 0

Jim Feist had a losing record during the regular season. Was 0-1 with a 6.30 ERA this postseason thus far... yet he pitches the game of his life at the right time. Pitching a 1 hitter into the 9th inning to get the win for Havana!

Spoiler

Havana is the 2012 FOOL-X Champions as they win the first title in their franchise's history!

The new file is up!

I hope all of you Americans have a great 4th of July weekend while thinking about the fact that you let some Communists win the title on such an important holiday weekend!

For our Canadians, happy Canada day. (or was that yesterday?)

For everyone else, well have a fun weekend anyways!

Awesome!

I knew going into the season I had a fairly strong rotation, but I had no reason to expect anything more from this year than what I have been doing, kinda playing at the fringe of playoff contention. This has been one of the more surprising and rewarding championships in the FOOL leagues for me, not the least of which being that it is my first in FOOLX.

Very glad to pull this one out. Check out Game 5, BTW, that was the game on which the series hinged. Was down 5-0 going into the bottom of the 7th and 7-2 going into the bottom of the 8th and scored six runs in the 8th to just steal that game, 8-7. I lose that one, and I am down 4 games to 1, and it's over (or so you would think anyway, I somehow managed to sweep thru the rest of the way against an incredibly talented Spring squad).

Tip of my hat to Tasan and his Spring squad; they're one of the powerhouses of the league. And my hat off also to hyde and JT for their great seasons.
