Please welcome the new owner/GM of the Cumberland Defenders: JTSMOOTH. He is a veteran OOTP player, having served on OOTP beta teams in the past as well as being a member of other OOTP online leagues and helping run a league that some of our members are a part of.

I am sure his addition to the league will help make the Republic League even tougher!

I have known for a long time it would only be a matter of time before JT made his way over to the FOOL family. Welcome to the league. The republic league just got a little tougher to win.

JTsmooth is my older brother so be sure to NOT take it easy on him.

I had been telling him about us FOOLs for a while. Hopefully he enjoys the league as much as I do!

Looks like we are still waiting for the vote to become official, but this is taken from the upgrade POLL thread.

Thanks

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've heard a lot of great things about this league from Dan and my brother and I've finally decided to take the plunge.

Looks like I have some work to do on this team to bring them back to respectability, but I am looking forward to the challenge.

Also, please welcome mattcubs as the new owner/GM of the New York Legends!

Welcome aboard!

But wait... so are you telling me that I lost the 2002 FOOL Classic to an AI controlled team?!!!!!

Man, if this is true, I have no choice but to start up a solo league immediately and exact my revenge.

I had finally gotten over the fact that we lost, but now I've gotta live with the fact that I lost to an inanimate object.

With new ownership, New York's park really needs to be adjusted.

Dola, in hindsight, I should have taken New York instead of Boston and modified the stadium.

I felt Boston was the bigger challenge though.

It will be up to him if he wants to move the team or just rebuild a new park or leave it as is. Per league rules he has to wait four seasons before he can do that though.

Everyone has lived with that horrible park for like 40 seasons already (or whenever it was that a previous NY owner put it in there), so 4 seasons won't kill anyone

Alan, you are right. It is lame to welcome the guy with complaints of his ballpark.

mattcubs, welcome to FOOLX. Hopefully you enjoy the league as much I have. Please don't take my complaints about your ballpark personally. I'm sure you're a lovely chapp.

I do what I can.

In all honesty, I was just trying to fill a roster. I wasn't even that discriminating when it came to signing guys this year. Sorry that my random bidding ruined your life!

Umm so I guess I need to look into my newly accuired ballpark...Further information will be available as soon as the future validity of a the New York Legends franchise is assesed (4 seasons).

1st matter of business will be finding a new home for my backup Catcher John Stout...PM any offers

That's one hell of a backup catcher. It's a shame his is getting paid so much as I cannot even touch that thing even in my wildest dreams.

Intriguing player though!

Good luck with your team. I am hoping to get a chance for some revenge on your franchise one of these days for raining on my 2002 parade.

Yeah, New York might have the best two catchers in the league. Both are All star calibre

You know, this was a critical signing period for me, with huge holes on my team and a lot of cap space to spend. I couldn't go full bore after every guy I needed, because I have more holes than cap space. But still, I had some good offers out there. I did sign some guys.

That said, and I have run into this again and again, repeatedly in FOOLX. When I want a guy or a guy is really critical to my squad, I invariably lose that free agent to one of three teams, in their various forms: St. Louis (Montreal GM), St. Cloud (Teach) and Spring (Tasan). These are three of my best friends in FOOL. Apparently they know how I think all too well.

Today I lost critical battles for C West to St. Louis and SP Duncan to St. Cloud. Ouch.

At least I signed Ageda.

Even though our strategy is often wildly different, I think we tend to think alike (and I could probably say the same of several people who have been around FOOL for a long time) about the caliber of players we sign. Now you just have to anticipate that and outbid us!

Truthfully, I had a lot of money this time around and almost an entire roster to fill out so I feel like I spent my money wisely and have a fully functioning team. It's not going to win me a playoff, but that really isn't the goal during a re-build, now is it?

You and Tasan can form a "Teach Ruined My Life" support group.

Well we had some money, we got some pitchers, and we have a lineup that can hit. Let's see if we can do better than last place!!

Sorry for signing West, Chief. Next time let me know who you're targeting and I'll do what I can to accommodate you.

In case you had forgotten I still haven't won a title in this league. I have the 3rd best winning percentage all-time. I'm not bragging, merely pointing out how jacked up it is that I don't have a FOOL-X Classic yet.

That said, I really think high times are ahead for the Hops. Huerta, West, some decent young pitchers, and lots of money to spend in the coming seasons should make for my best chance yet.

Let's hope! Really, all of us.

edit: I have some pitchers (not Crawford) in AAA that make chicken scratch and can do a decent job for someone. Send me an okay prospect and we have deal.
