Hattrick Cup Round 3 Match Compilation

In a stunning display of the lack of responsibility in my life, I've gone through the registered FOFC teams and put together a list of all the round 3 cup matches. If anyone involved would like to submit a brief press release later, I'd be happy to edit the thread. Hopefully, I'll be in the mood to update the scores of the games in progress, complete with election style early calls of the contests where someone is getting mauled.

The bold team is the FOFC competitor, if they are listed first, they are at home, and the defacto underdog. Good luck everyone!!

CANADA

Pintendre Pittbulls(D5) - come upins(D4) --
Goldfish(D4) - The Navy Seals(D4) --

FRANCE

Alf Trickers(D4) - FC Pongolie(D4) --
vileurban fc(D4) - carotte's not dead(D4) --

USA

Rio Grandes(D5) - Gazzaly FC(D5) --

Bull Dogs(D5) - Ramblers(D4) [6898161] --

Concord Assassins(D5) - Vampyric Devils(D5) --

Bishop seems to be keeping company with The Afoci in debtville, so another home cup game would be just the thing the doctor ordered. He likes his chances, but I hope his assassins are armed with silver tipped arrows. You get it? You see.....

S. Boston Hooligans(D5) - Fair Oaks Diamonds(D3) [6898072] --

booger ballers(D5) - Sexy Tails(D4) [6898219] --

Last Bastion(D5) - Calibiri(D4) [6898253] --

Isla Vista Vandals(D5) - Neon Genesis Evangelion(D4) --

Finally, a man with a solid pair hanging. Not only does Vince think he can take these division 4 punks, but he's going to put his team spirit where is mouth is and MOTS the bastards. Don't anyone tell him what kind of havoc it will wreak for him in upcoming league games, I want to see some of our guys advance in the cup.

Aardvarks(D5) - Gryndal(D5) --

Galesburg Avengers(D5) - Northern Iowa United(D4) --

The Bingo Bandits(D5) - Gargoyles(D4) [6898301] --

High Tops(D5) - soccer team(D4) [6898613] --

Brooklyn Ex-Pats(D5) - Screamin' Seamen(D4) --

Our beloved candidate will have to forego a little training to get by this week. Poor thing.

Shaw_Shanksters(D5) - Champ's Avengers(D3) --

Another defeatist. Where's the pride? PIC, B-team, hope we don't get a boo-boo on our knee. Bah.

White Sox Pride(D5) - Argenta FC(D4) [6898105] --

Boulder Blaze(D5) - The Hoops(D4) [6898481] --

Michigan Moon Shine(D5) - FC Lorton(D4) [6898313] --

Maniacal Misfitz(D5) - THE BRONCOS(D4) --

Havok thinks his Misfitz are "gonna get stomped", so he is PICing and going to drink beer and eat crawfish

Newton Rams(D5) - Monkey of Doom(D5) --

Houston Hippopotami(D5) - Dark Lotus(D4) --

I have a winnable game for my cup game but I'm going to be playing my starters. A second cup game at home means sweet, sweet cash! That said, it's winnable but we'll be pretty evenly matched if we both play starters. I'm hoping home field and a little tactics beats him. He gets solids across the offense but inad/poor on defense and wretched midfield. Hopefully my more balanced team can take it to him. This guy runs-and-shoots a bit too much. Too much run and shoot? Right, next The Afoci will be telling us that you can like crawfish too much. Silly hippo.

passion fruit(D5) - Hamas Mad Bombers(D5) --

McGees(D5) - Clint's Army(D4) --

Spring Grove Fighting Eagles(D5) - Horangye(D4) --

aidan's aces FC(D5) - Rochester Roosters(D5) --

Shadow(D5) - MoKan Mighty Bastards(D5) --

Plowboys(D5) - Wolf United(D4) [6898227] --

Washington, D.C. Vikings(D6!!) - Airborne Penguins(D2) --

Are you allowed to talk smack if you are still playing against division 6 bots in the third round?

AnalBumCovers(D5) - North Shore Kix(D4) --

Staten Island Warriors(D5) - Else United(D5) --

Baltimore Blast(D5) - Miami Dolphins(D4) [6898340] --

Chesapeake Cheapshots(D5) - Bay Dragons(D4) --

Shadow Dragons(D5) - Slumlords(D4) [6898272] --

Square Pegs(D5) - Wabiit(D5) --

Cautiously optimistic, mckerney is putting out his first teamers, and is eager to teach the upper division punks a think or two in round 4.

Golden Eagles FC(D5) - Flying Condors(D4) --

Mississippi Strikers FC(D5) - Pubes(D4) --

Blade Bombers(D5) - The Mighty Pats(D4) --

Orange Park(D5) - North County Raiders(D4) --

ardent claims that resistance is futile. I guess he would know. With a monster like Jerome "Toot Toot" Bettis charging around the pitch, I'd lay down and play dead too.

Hellcats(D5) - SouthPark Cows(D4) --

Manchester Silver Bullets(D5) - TEAM FIST(D5) --

Impact(D5) - Complex Spikes(D5) --

Louisiana Cyclones(D5) - Frank and the Lads(D5) --

Doug will be thrilling his home fans with a facinating rendition of the 5-4-1. He's playing at home, but his opponent never seems to be home, so he's looking for a juicy 2nd home cup game.

Asimton(D5) - Averill Park Mercury(D5) --

Long Island Pride(D5) - Dragon Feet(D4) [6898676] --

West Henrietta FC(D5) - Enforcers(D4) [6898471] --

Morrisville Morrisvillians(D5) - Dogs of War(D4) --

Tomahawks(D5) - FCGoblins(D3) [6898136] --

West Fargo Stangs(D5) - Moave Storm(D4) [6898237] --

Puro Chivas(D5) - Aviators(D4) [6898504] --

Mr. Brown thinks Chivas is going to use his goalie for a punching bag. The chips, pizza and beer are at my place, come on over it should be fun to watch.

MetroDevils(D5) - Midwest Ice Storm FC(D5) --

Toledo Drunkards(D5) - Nasty Boyz(D3) [6898085] --

NE Oklahoma Sidekicks(D5) - Langola's Metrostars(D5) --

Vexroid has the honor of playing an opponent who is 14-2-0 in his last 16 competition games. That doesn't even seem possible, perhaps he didn't qualify for last year's cup. Vex is unvexed by the whole affair, PICing and playing his scrubs in the prior league game to prepare to erase the win streak.

Oklahoma City Rednecks(D5) - bobsquad(D4) [6898401] --

The juggernaut that is the Rednecks continues to roll along. How much luck will he be granted? Will the runner up of last years FOFC cosolation cup get lucky, and make a deep run in the USA cup? Only time will tell. I think he just wanted to talk up his FOFC Consolation cup result, but good luck to him anyhow.

Scranton Slime(D5) - Oakland Red Devils(D5) --

Ultra Nox(D5) - Eructadores FC(D3) --

Quik would rather play friendlies anyway. He can spend more time on the transfer wires I guess.

Arkham Avengers(D5) - M.B. Lionhearts(D4) [6898602] --

Ruskies(D5) - Mad Beavers(D5) --

Mid-Mo Headcrackers(D5) - Slithy Toves(D5) --

Boston City FC(D5) - Reign(D4) --

G-Vegas FC(D5) - Blue Knights(D4) --

Sharks w/ Frickin' Laser Beams on Their Foreheads(D5) - Bees(D5) --

Gooooaaaaallll!!!!!!!(D5) - Cedar Pond Horned Toads(D5) --

Cowtown FC(D5) – Retrievers(D5) --

Shadow Dragons(D5) - Slumlords(D4) [6898272] --

Starke FC(D5) - Fairfax Admirals(D5) --

Negative Waves(D5) - Lakewood Ranch FC(D4) [6898400] --

Dr. Pepper Fanatics(D5) – goldurnears(D5) --

Hey, I like a cold Dr. Pepper as much as the next guy, but seriously, have a coke and a smile and shut the f(bleep)ck up.

xenimus(D5) - Gasmasters(D5) --

thebeans(D5) - Racoons(D4) [6898411] --

71 matches, 43 of them at home. There could be some serious weeding out here. Of course, that will free up some of my bookmarks.

well since I also have a complete lack of responsibility in my life here is a preview of my match up
Louisiana Cyclones vs Frank and the Lads
The Cyclones will be running a 5-4-1 formation, the players for most of the positions are not full picked yet...
I plan on playing my backup inadequate keeper who has not played in a game since 3/20, he currently has solid form, and is a consistant 2* keeper. Also, the lone forward in my 5-4-1 formation will be Xavi Matas- he was on the transfer market twice, but neither time I recieved a reasonable bid so I decided to keep him...So far in cup action this year he has put up 3 goal, so I am very happy with his preformace so far.
These were my rankings from my last cup game..
Midfield: wretched
Right Side Defence: excellent
Central Defence: excellent
Left Side Defence: passable
Right Side Attack: weak
Central Attack: poor
Left Side Attack: weak

I would expect this cup game to be very similar, except maybe I will play a starter or 2 to boost my midfield to give me a slight chance....
My opponent...

Frank and the Lads (70996)
Country: USA
Region: Atlanta
Arena: The Summit at Sandy Springs
Language: English
Series: # 1 in V.144

When I click to see his last 5 logins I see nothing, so I am not sure if this is a dead team or not....He won his last cup game 7-0. and these are his team rankings...
Frank and the Lads
Player rating and Team formation
Midfield: weak
Right Side Defence: inadequate
Central Defence: inadequate
Left Side Defence: inadequate
Right Side Attack: weak
Central Attack: weak
Left Side Attack: inadequate

If I can boost my midfield I might have a chance to go to the 4th round of the cup....This is a home game for me, so I will be looking forward to getting the $$$ but if I lose I will not be too upset...opinions? Should I play all my starters (except defensive trainees) to try and get a win? Do I have a good chance with my scrubs?

I play a good Div3 team...it seems my run is almost over in the cup...can I say I'm relieved a little, I want to be able to put my scrubs in for some training, I know they get more experience in Cups, but I want to jump up form on some of these guys...

Put a fork in me I'm done. I also will PIC and play the B-Team. No need to get useless injuries for a game my team can't win.

Save up the energy for league play.

Forgot my team as well. No matter. I'm up against a div V team, that while an 'underdog' at home, could probably kick the ever loving crap out of me no matter who I played, or where it was played.

Speaking of bot teams...what's the high # of "6-0" scores? I seem to get a ton.

Yeah, high scores are frequent when lower level teams are involved in matches. Generally scores get a bit more realistic as you move up the ladder though.

Following Doug's lead...

Isla Vista Vandals (D5) vs. Neon Genesis Evangelion (D4)

Word on the street says that this guy is in the same league as a fellow D4 hattricker. Checking over his roster, it's going to be a tough game if my crew wants to win. His asymmetrical 3-5-2 consistently posts Brilliant, Outsanding and Excellent along the defense. Scoring will be at a premium, and we'll hope that Vandal leading scorer Hor Nhat-Nam has a great day. What gives us hope, however, is that his midfield's best rating to date is Poor, and he seems to get Wretched as much as he gets Poor for the midfield. The strong Vandal midfield, which has shown it can consistently post a Weak rating, might be the key to a hometown win. His offense is only Passable or Solid (only Solid...geesh), so my Excellent defense should hold up well. We plan to make this a Match of the Season, so hopefully that little boost will kick us over the top!

PS - If anyone wants to give me some advice, I've got some cash to burn...where should I upgrade my team? I've got -

Passable Keeper (Solid Form)
Weak Midfield
Excellent C. Defense
Inad. and Solid R & L Defense (depending upon which side I run my Symmetrical 3-5-2 out of)
Passable R & L Attack
Inadequate C. Attack

I've got about $160,000, and I'm not too terribly afraid to go into a little debt.

I'm playing another D.V team, so I'm hoping that I have a chance to move to round 4. Putting my top team out there should give me a shot, especially if I get some good improvement from my defensive training this week.

Concord Assassins D5 vs. Vampyric Devils D5

Concord Assassins (3-5-2 Assymettrical)
Midfield: poor
Right Side Defence: weak
Central Defence: passable
Left Side Defence: passable
Right Side Attack: passable
Central Attack: solid
Left Side Attack: passable

I have also added a 2* CM since then.

Vampyric Devils (4-4-2)
Midfield: wretched
Right Side Defence: passable
Central Defence: solid
Left Side Defence: solid
Right Side Attack: inadequate
Central Attack: passable
Left Side Attack: passable

Runs a 4-4-2. 2.5 Star Keeper, Forward and a 3-Star Center D. Midfield Across gets 1,1.5,2,2 Stars respectively.

I definitely have a good shot, and if I can get that midfield up to weak I should win. If I can win and get another home Cup game it would really help since I just expanded my arena to 21,000 (necessary for long-term) and am about 350,000 in debt.

I've got a pretty good shot at making it to Round 4. If I forego a little more training and play 3-5-2, SSFC should make it without a problem.

There's the good and the bad.

The good, I'm playing a Div. V team.

The bad, This appears on his team page: The team is undefeated for 16 competition games and has 14 wins in a row

Somehow, somehow, he's still in Div. V.

He got about 2.5-3 stars during his last match. I am going to put my top team out there and then PIC my league match using my B players against the worst team in the league.

The North County Raiders expect little resistance from Orange Park in their attempt to reach Round 4. Dave Sumner and Jerome Bettis continue to clear the path for the Raiders return to glory.

By the way guys, how's it going? Pretty good out here!

ARDENT!! Glad to hear you're ok.

The good news: My opponent hasn't logged in for over 5 weeks.

The bad news: They still could kick my ass. They have an OUTSTANDING attack rating.

That said, it's winnable but we'll be pretty evenly matched if we both play starters. I'm hoping home field and a little tactics beats him. He gets solids across the offense but inad/poor on defense and wretched midfield. Hopefully my more balanced team can take it to him. This guy runs-and-shoots a bit too much and it creates tactical problems. He plays a 3-5-2 but takes his extra middie from the same defensive side every game and plays his other four middies/wings at offensive leaving no help at home.

The Sharks w/Frickin' Laser Beams have been around for a little while. Actually, they were in the same Division V series as the Gargoyles two seasons ago.

Oh, boy.....

I just noticed that my next cup opponent sold a youth pull 2 days ago.....17 yr old midfielder.....1.2 million dollars......I sure hope he takes his time deciding what to do with the money.

Should I send him some HT mail to let him know that the FOFC communitity thinks he sucks?

(wrings hands)

I think my best pull was about 300k. Maybe Ill get lucky next week, and pull a 1.3 mil player. I would probably sell him and improve my team all around...

Rest assured, I'd give each and every one of the left testicles in FOFC (except mine, of course) for a 1.2M youth pull (j/k)

Bitch and moan, bitch and moan. In its entire history, my youth squad is at solid and has produced one player which I have successfully sold and that was for $1000. I've had to actually sell quality talent from my original team to augment my finances.

Nah, it's all about luck- I'm hoping the big score is right around the corner. Heck, anyone can get lucky once you get into those decent levels of youth squad (inad and above)- just ask a certain fanatic of a midwestern school of fighting people and a guy not named "Tom Sanders"

Let the record show that it was sterlingice, not me who brought up Tom Sanders. But for the people who are unaware of who Tom Sanders really is. He is not a myth, but a legend. As the Spring Grove Fighting Eagles were about to go to 300,000 into the hole, they pulled an extraordinary wonder. His name Tom Sanders. He was 19, and would've netted more than 3 million had he been 17. He was truly a great player. With solid at defending, and passable at playmaking, he was sold to a Swedish team who paid 600,000+ for a B team player.

Fresh solid. It was I think 2 weeks old.

And his ratings.

Playmaking: Passable
Defeding: Solid
Passing: solid

If only he could've been 17.
And for guys who don't get good pulls, just wait. They will come before you know it. Like lately it seemed all I was getting was crap players with a solid youth club. Now for the last 4 weeks, I have gotten players that I regulary use in my line-up.

Week 4 of season 17 I pulled a 17 year old solid defender with passable playmaking (on the USA U20 team now) and he sold for $900k. The next week I pulled a 17 year old solid defender that sold for about $800k. Needless to say, I was happy.

Edit: The second guy is probably going to be added to the U20 team as well, but he is injured at the moment.

Anyone have any idea why my Passable goalie in Solid form would have a drop in value at the last update? Nothing that I can tell about him changed other than his Value (by about 7,000). Should I expect a form decrease soon, or what?

In an unrelated note, my opponent in league play this week features his star midfielder Jimmy Hendrix

I think today is going to be last week. The server doesn't seem to want to update.

Update isn't supposed to take place for about 20 minutes. Don't know how long it will take after that though.

Though when I make my youth pull I hope I pull a younger version of this guy:

Martin L Sälglund (186689)
26 years, inadequate form, healthy

A pleasant guy who is balanced and upright.
Has brilliant experience and weak leadership abilities.
