firefox and trying to print an email issue?

Always have been able to print out emails using firefox. Just tried printing my FOF 2007 email to get the VT number as I've never installed on my vista machine.

Hit printable version\print and get a box asking me to save as a .xps file, WTF?
Go back to original email and highlight what I want to print, hit print\selection and get teh same save as .xps box. So I saved the file to a folder on my computer and went there to open the file, doesn't open as text but firefox wants to be the program to open it. Renamed the file from .xps to .txt and opened it with notepad and got computer giberish.

Decide I better try IE and open my email using IE8 and the email prints like normal using highlight\selection. Never tried printable version.

So, WTF? Am I missing some setting in firefox?
