Live From The Hatpub, It's Round 2 Of Cup Play!!!
Round 2 of the Hattrick Cup!!
Live Satelite Coverage from the HatPub Sponsored by WCLG and HOOTERS!!! “Welcome to Morgantown!!!!!” (Yelling, catcalling, various profanity and excitement in the background) “This is Loretta “Sloppy” Jones with you LIVE from the HatPub in Morgantown, West BY GOD Virginia, covering the Goldurnears 2nd round cup match against division six side Puerto Rico Gurus. We are just tickled sh(bleep)tless to be here with Goldurnears owner “bg” Rob Maier, who decided to watch the game here with us. It seems that he has some phobia of Puerto Rico, something to do with an ...ah... incident there in his youth. Hello bg, what are you drinking? “HA, up yours Sloppy Jo” “After the game tiger, grrrrrrrr” (in stage voice) “Shhhh, we don’t want Bebec getting wind of this” “Why not, maybe she’d like to join us?” “Um.....hey, let’s check out my starting line up for today’s game” GK - #2 Walter “head stuck in the” Sands (weak form, inadequate keeping) We originally thought that stucky would be our long term starter, but he has since been beaten out by “Conchito”. We are still waiting for him to pop to passable so that we can turn him into 6000 stadium seats. Maybe we will get lucky and it will happen this week during our general training. CD(offensive) - #4 Alojzije “easy for you to say” Braun (inadequate form, passable defense, solid stamina, inadequate playmaking, Technical specialist) One of the two players who is participating in both games this week. With so many second team or low formers on the side, we thought it was important to inject our best defender in the middle. Easy is also a scoring threat, as he pumped one in during his first league match against the hated Arsenel Gunners. The soon to be f(bleep)cking defunct Gunners. LWD(defensive) - #8 William “lame duck” Tompkins (passable form, inadequate defense, inadequate winger) We try to make light of duckster’s nickname, but the truth is sometimes hard to take. This is the only player on our depth chart that isn’t passable or better in his primary skill. Inadequate at both defense and winger is just enough for me to play him. We don’t have any funds available for an upgrade, so ducky will remain with us, sweating our youth pulls from week to week. No way at all he will survive the end of the season, but with inadequate scoring and solid set pieces, we hope he will find a home somewhere. RWD(defensive) - #10 Stanislaw “Wolfgang” Kociuba (wretched form, inadequate defense, excellent stamina) At least Tompkins is actually on the depth chart where he is playing. Wolfgang is one of the top three midfielders on our team, but his form has been lousy, so he hasn’t made the cut at midfield this week. Perhaps we are taking something of a liberty by injecting him into the defense. In fact, what is he even doing on the wing, he needs to be in the middle (shouts for an assistant, who begins booting up his laptop). Get on that G(bleep)d Damn F(BLEEP)UCKING thing and change to asymmetric in the back, what the hell are you people doing!! (sounds of bg slugging back a 20oz Amber Bock) Nurse! More medicine over here, pronto! Put Tompkins over on the other wing, and slot Kociuba as the left central defender, normal. Lord, what I have to deal with. RIM - #17 Diogo “Je” Sousa Rodrigues (poor form, passable playmaking, passable stamina, Quick specialist) This will be Je sousa’s first time in the bag. LIM - #16 Bernard “detective” Martinez (inadequate form, passable playmaking, passable stamina, Technical specialist) Ditto for Martinez, we haven’t even gotten him a decent nickname yet. IM(offensive) - #14 Jose “can you see the holes in the” Levy (weak form, passable playmaking, solid stamina) We set Jose offensive because of his stamina, and because we want to try and add a little punch towards the assualt on goal. If you haven’t noticed yet, we are really playing with a patchwork lineup. LW(offensive) - #11 Elijah “the prophet” Dupree (inadequate form, solid winger, inadequate stamina, Technical specialist) The other man on the squad playing both games this week. All the prophet does is drop ball after ball after ball in the box at the feet of our strikers. Absolutely can not afford to do without him under the circumstances. RW(towards middle) - #13 Richard “forest” Whittaker (weak form, inadequate winger, solid stamina, inadequate passing, inadequate playmaking, inadequate defense) I guess I have more than one player not solid in his primary skill on the depth chart, but the fact that he is inadequate everywhere makes up for that. My first foray into the towards middle order, I want to really hammer the possession if I can. LF – #24 Andy “Capp” Morales (weak form, passable scoring) Has made decent apparences previously, we hope for another today. RF - #22 John “gimpy” Colvin (wretched form, passable scoring, passable passing, solid stamina) Gimpy is so named because he is an original member of the team, and has been injured for about eighty percent of its existence. John alternates between striker and central defense. He is playing forward today because Wolfgang can’t play up front. “There you have it BJ, I mean SJ.” “Ha ha, bj, I mean bg. So, with your less than stellar line up today, I presume you won’t be PICing again as you did in round 1?” “You’d be wrong there Sloppy, seconds, I mean, that’s the second time today. With my nasty coach, I don’t dare miss an opportunity to improve team spirit. Besides, assuming we do win this game, we still have to play yet another road game against a division V side before I get the chance at a home game. We can’t afford to worry to much about the cup yet, if we get by this week, and honestly, I think we still are overwhelming favorites to continue, then we will worry about the cup. We play another new team without an owner in league next week, so we can obviously reverse our strategy then, and put our best foot forward then. Maybe our round 3 opponent won’t notice and take US a little too lightly.” “Thanks for the interview, bg, enjoy the game. Don’t get too wasted, you’ll have quite a pair of handfulls in your hands this evening.” Now, we go live to our remote reporters at various other cup sites. Good luck to all the FOFC contingent, owners of HOOTERS, we hope to hear good things tonight!” Last edited by robbgmaier : 04-09-2003 at 03:03 PM. |

GGGOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!!
Not much action so far, but the Pittbulls are ahead!!!
After a fine move down the middle Calvin Phelan nearly gave the home side one up in the 14:th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Jack Rudoy sailed high, high above the opponents as he headed the 1-0 in after a corner kick after 22 minutes of play. GO PITTBULLS!!!!!! FrogMan

that's one of the thing I like about this l'il text sim. If you've either played a little or watched even only a few highlights, you can imagine the corner kick coming to a crowd of players and then one guy jumping higher than the other and the GOAL!!!
in the meantime: A couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area after 28 minutes might have resulted in another goal for Pintendre. However, Alec Shattock made a spectacular save. Third scoring chance for our team. Looks like we are dominating the possession battle... GO PITTBULLS!!!! FrogMan

Last update from me, as I gotta run.
In the 35:th minute Pintendre put themselves up 2 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Per Rossten coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. Should be back home in les than two hours. Ample time to catch your USA cup games guys!!! Good luck everyone and GOOOOOOOO PITTBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLSS! FrogMan

I am psyched. Being the moron college student that I am, I actually went to class and completely forgot about my lineup, so I'm pretty sure I will be forced to forfeit tonight's game! That is, unless the game put a lineup together for me, although I doubt that's possible. Anybody know? Will I forfeit?

A mistake by the home sides central defence in the 3rd minute allowed Andy Morales to score 0 - 1 for goldurnears.

Andy Morales of goldurnears received a yellow card in the 8:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
I think Andy must have had too many lumps of sugar in his coffee this morning, a goal and a card and we aren't even ten minutes in. |

The 9:th minute saw the home team take a 1 - 0 lead after a leak in the visitors right side defense. Scorer for Tomahawks was Tyler Britt.

Excellent, Paul Dillon just put the McGees up 1-0. That is probably all we will need to win.

woo-hoo, up 1-0 already...and with my defensive 5-4-1 formation 1 goal might be all I need to win. |

Alright 10 minutes, up by one.
Phil Edwards was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was saved by the keeper. However, Complex´s Michael Hvidt managed to get hold of the rebound and scored the 0-1 goal. Havok - seeding is determined by where your team finished last season. |

The visitors Bernard Martinez took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and full backs in the 10:th minute. 0 - 2 for goldurnears.

11 minutes in, and already pulling back. After a low score last week, I wanted to get in on a rout. Maybe I will not concede a goal though. In 4 competition matches, the only goal I gave up was to a series VI bot.
The game had been on for 11 minutes when Tony Spicer broke through to the right, upping the score to the home crowd´s dismay. Complex´s were up 0 - 2. After this Complex lowered the tempo in order to concentrate on their defensive efforts. Last edited by Masked : 04-09-2003 at 06:15 PM. |

They scored on a freekick, I think I might be in for another painful adjusting to the new formation game...
1-1 I also have a half full stadium, and playing in rainy conditions. I'm hoping my ubah defender Jonatan Jonsson pulls something out, he's the only transfer I've brought in, and it was through a bidding war with the team I'm playing, would be sweet if he had a great game. |

I've brought in a bunch of midfielders in the last week and wanting to give my top 2 players a rest moved one of them to forward and he came through for me.
What ever got into Felix Conroy, the crowd mumbled, as he suddenly struck a cross pass through the own defense - ending up right in front of Square´s Leo Seals, who easily put the ball away for 0-1. |

No it sucks...it gave my players star rankings, but gave everyone on both teams disasterous ratings...It says I scored 5-0 but doesn't say who...I'm confused...though it did put money in the coffers and made me advance... What I want to know is...is this considered a walkover and do my players get experience...I really wanted my weak form players to get some form...and will I get some stats?!? |

Many thought Mark Davis ought to have been awarded a penalty shot in the 17:th minute, as he went down trying to circle the visitors keeper Manuel Bossio

Speaking of getting stats, my starting forward suddenly has 55 career goals, 54 of which were league.
He's a player that started out on my team and is only 23. He's scored 1 in each of the games he's played for me, and maybe I just didn't notice the goals before, but I don't remember him having any stats when I started with the team. |

Palmer Nicholas seemed highly inexperienced when in the 20:th minute he was loitering with the ball, allowing Tom Sheets to intercept and strike 0-1 for Fighting.
1-0. I went with most of my B team, and played PIC, I'm kinda nervous.
