Christmas Movie/Family Show Recommendations

I like to spend some time with my family over Christmas and last year there was a nice gathering to watch Elf and the Freaks & Geeks TV series (I wanted to watch it, and my mom and sister joined in and all three of us plowed through the episodes and liked it a lot).

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions this year. I don't know of any Christmas movies that would be nice to watch that we haven't already seen (National Lampoon's and The Santa Clause are two that jump to mind)... or maybe a family-friendly good TV show? I was thinking for whatever reason Veronica Mars? I caught an episode on TV and it seemed to be like a high school show mixed with detective work so that might fit my family.

Ideas?

A Christmas Story is required viewing, especially if you haven't seen it.

Four Christmases with Vince Vaughn is also kind of fun.

I've always been a big fan of Bill Murray's "Scrooged."

And, while it's not a traditional Christmas movie, "The Ref" starring Denis Leary and Kevin Spacey takes place on Christmas and is funny.

Oh yeah, watched A Christmas Story many times (TBS did that 24-hour thing on Christmas Eve, but now we get Peachtree TV instead). Haven't seen Four Christmases so that's on the list now!

If you ever can get your hands on a copy of the episode of American Dreams called Tidings of Comfort and Joy, it is really worth it. Season 3 is not out of DVD but you can find it pretty easy via bittorrent or whatever.

It's a tear jerker for me each and everytime I watch it which is every Christmas Eve.

American Dreams: Tidings Of Comfort And Joy episode on TV.com

Fred Clause with Vince Vaughn isn't bad. I do have to third the Bad Santa recommendation however as it is probably one of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

Me and my brother have this evil plan for Christmas. He's recently obtained "The Star Wars Christmas Special" on bootleg DVD. We're going to force my 11 year old watch it, and we plan to act like it's the best thing ever. Of course it's absolutelyfuckinghorrible. Anyways, nothing wrong with a little bit of hazing.

Weird as this is, my wife and I watch this every Halloween instead of Christmas. It's a great bridge to the "holiday season" as it is all about Halloween town but takes place during Christmas, for the most part.

The usual cartoons are must-views every year (Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming To Town, Charlie Brown X-Mas) Did anyone catch "Prep & Landing" on ABC? Really cute, catching cartoon that was on earlier this week. Pretty good new one.

I think it depends on the family dynamic. I watch this with my Father in Law and we crack up like little children.
