NFL Week 11 Discussion

Dolphins at Panthers starts the week off tonight, a few days after the bad news of Ronnie Brown going on IR. It seems like we'll be seeing more Pat White for the rest of the season. Ricky Williams is averaging 5.3 ypc so far this season, hopefully he can remain productive with what will likely be a significantly increased workload. Henne and the wideouts will have to step it up as well but the wideouts probably don't have it in them.

Interesting games this weekend include Indianapolis at Baltimore, Atlanta at NY Giants, San Diego at Denver, and NY Jets at New England. The Sunday and Monday night games aren't anything special this week unfortunately.

I think the JeMarcus Russell era is over. It wasn't a very good era.

Ronnie Brown was probably more valuable to his team than any non-QB. It will be interesting to see how the Dolphins respond.

I'm not a Raiders fan (quite the opposite actually as a Steelers fan) but even I want to say thank goodness! I understand raw talent, great arm, blah, blah, blah (cough...Ryan Leaf) but this has been a disaster now for multiple seasons. Hopefully this will start the Raiders in their return to glory (or whatever they've had since the late '70's).

From the standpoint of the Steelers, I'm wondering if/when Mike Tomlin and company are going to realize that they have a running game that they can use. The passing offense isn't getting it done (no knock on Ben but we look very one-dimensional). I was a Mendenhall detractor actually and he has impressed the heck out of me. I just don't understand what it is going to take for them to start giving the ball to he and Moore a combined 25-30 times a game. Until that happens, the Steelers' rollercoaster continues.

Oh, and that Troy Polamalu injury, yeah, that might be a problem too.

I was glad when he left LSU... Wonder where he will end up (assuming he gets cut this off-season), will anyone give him a second chance?

My Saints play Tampa this weekend- if they keep turning the ball over we're going to lose a game before long. (I do want to lose one before the playoffs though- if I had my choice it'd be Atlanta at Atlanta- and who knows we could lose quite a few)

ESPN is reporting that Brad Childress has been given a contract extension thru 2013 in the range of 4-5 million dollars per year.

I agree with that sentiment, and am very curious to see if they can hang. If I were a betting man, I'd assume that they can't.

Said this a few weeks ago...amazing that they didn't make him at least get to the conference championship before rewarding him for something he hasn't deserved yet.

Wow, I'd always thought that for a coach to make that kind of money they needed to have actually have won a playoff game.

I wish the Dolphins would let Pat White get some snaps in the red zone.

Um, why do they keep talking about how Ricky needs to be his old amazing self from New Orleans, but then quote his amazing stats that he produced in ... Miami?

Miami's D keeps getting it done, a pick (a very easy one admittedly, awful throw/decision by Delhomme) and a brilliant stuff on 3rd and 1 to open the second half.

And they will instantly regret giving him said contact the second Favre walks off the field for the last time.

After Miami's starting center Grove left the game injured now his backup is hurt. The second play after this happened there was a fumbled snap, Henne recovered thankfully.

46 yard TD run makes it 24-14 Miami with 3:55 left in the 4th.

I love how Carolina is running for upwards of 7 yards per carry but every time they get in the red zone they just stop running entirely and pass on all 3 downs before kicking field goals. Miami is obviously playing well but Carolina can just be so damn infuriating.

That was a nice road win. Henne was played well enough, he is now 5-2 as a starter. Ginn had four catches and no drops that I recall. Williams was got it done in Brown's absence. The defense played pretty well, only giving up one TD on a brilliant catch by Smith. Those third down sacks in the red zone were big, it's always nice to see Porter's play matching his mouth.

A Jets win could be huge for Miami this weekend, bringing them to within a game of NE with a game against the Pats in Miami left on the schedule. However I expect the Pats will come out strong after the Colts' comeback last weekend and they'll beat the Jets by two or three touchdowns.

Wow. I almost want to take the Falcons but that seems too easy. I hope they blow them out right off the bat, but -7 seems pretty crazy given how much they suck.

I don't understand the Ricky in New Orleans comments, his first year- Ditka screwed him over by keeping him in with the backup offensive line in preseason.
His 2nd year he was doing good at exactly 100 yrds / game, but broke his foot.
His 3rd year here he had a pretty good season with 1,200 yards but didn't score a whole lot of touchdowns.

His first year in Miami is when he really went off- got 1800 yards or so, enough for the conditions in the trade to be met and we got 2 draft picks from it. (One ended up being Charles Grant- the other packaged to move up and grab Jonathan Sullivan one of the worst picks in recent Saints history)

At least they are within a TD now. If the Lions lose, it's down to them and Tampa for the first pick the draft. Yay?

Eh I think Oakland will be in the conversation still too. 1-4, with KC in there, is going to be a crap shoot for the loser of this game.

Vikings destroying Seattle 202 yards to 61. Seattle negative rushing yards in the first half.

Cowboys have the most inconsistent offense Ive ever seen. They are running the ball well this game and cant score. They have some serious offensive problems right now.

And I find it strange that out of all the games being played right now the Browns/Lions has gotten the most posts

It's blacked out so Lions fans are forced to keep updated via online.

That is a tight one compared to GB / SF 1st half. Green Bay has 362 to 57.

Alex Smith has 5 yards passing. That is bad.

hhaah oh man epic... something... in Detroit. Cleveland has 4th and 9 on the Lions 21 with 13 seconds left. They fake the FG, snap it to the kicker who throws a pass that goes barely for enough for the first down. That leaves only 6 seconds left, so they send the FG unit back out on the very next play to kick a FG and get the 3 points.
