Car problem
There is smoke coming from my steering wheel column and my lights won't turn off. I am no car expert, but this can't be good.

One of the switches in the column shorted out, possibly the turn signal switch or lights.
I wouldn't think ignition switch though.

It sounds like some wires in your column have become crossed. The whole thing probably needs rewired. I had this done a number of years ago. It was less than 500 then.

The switch controlling the lights and windshield washer fluid went bad . 400 to fix. All in all, not bad (I guess).
