Is this monitor fried? (with picture)

It's totally dead, right?

I think my internet connection is dead after downloading that monstrosity of a picture. At least it wasn't an animated GIF...

There is a great vBulletin hack that automatically resizes huge pictures so that they fit in the framework of the forum. Definitely worth a look from Ryan S, I would think.

Visitors to the 2+2 forums have probably seen it in action.

Graphics card possibly. If you have another computer to plug it into, try that and see if the same thing happens.

I don't think it's totally dead - it could be a video card problem. But it definitely doesn't look good.

If it's not completely dead, that means it is somewhat alive.

But if it's not dead and it's not alive, what is it??? Is this part of the zombie conspiracy?

Well, it is running its self-test which would seem to eliminate the video card.

Easiest test is to plug a different monitor into the computer and plug the monitor into a different computer and you'll know which one the problem is.

That looks a lot like a bad connection between the video card and the monitor.

So yeah. Plug/unplug/swap monitors. Might not be really dead.

That looks more like a video card or cable problem than the monitor itself. As other said, I'd suggest plugging in another monitor and see if it does the same.

It's mostly dead compared to completely dead.

Make sure there is a picture of that 14-year old girl that MJ4H likes on it as you destroy it.

1. It's not even plugged into the PC, which probably eliminates the video card.

2. Another monitor is working fine, which probably eliminates the video card.

I have (well 'had') a dual monitor setup. I lost half my picture to those color bars... got it working again, but it crapped out again about a week later. I was just checking to see if anyone has any insight. I'm assuming it's totally dead. If that is the case, I would say I got a solid run out of the monitor.... I think it's 5 years old and got constant heavy usage.

I think the wallpaper looks a bit too...fruity.

I'd recommend going with a paisley or floral pattern.

Looks like a good excuse for a nice new widescreen LCD. What's your budget and any limit on size?

Have you tried plugging it into another computer? I have heard somewhere that that is a great way to test a monitor. You might also try another monitor on your computer. That way you can be sure its not your video card.

Dumb question. Have you tried plugging it into any computer?
