That was the first time that I believe the Commissioner Award has gone to a free agent as Edmonton released Trujillo before the award was even received

Monday, November 17th, 2025: FOOL News: Free Agents File
As midnight approached last night, would-be free agents across Front Office Offseason League lined up to formally file their papers, officially putting themselves on the open market.

General managers across the league enter the fray today with different approaches -- mortgage the franchise to snap up the stars or simply maintain the status quo?

Headlining the list of names filing for free agency are these players:

1. Fulass Sulaiman, 28 year-old starting pitcher
2. Keith Hill, 31 year-old right fielder
3. Dani Aguilar, 31 year-old second baseman
4. Luis Hernández, 32 year-old starting pitcher
5. José Macías, 31 year-old shortstop
6. Ángelo Mejía, 30 year-old third baseman
7. Luis Márquez, 35 year-old center fielder
8. José Gonzáles, 32 year-old left fielder
9. Carlos Trujillo, 35 year-old first baseman
10. Pedro Guerrero, 26 year-old reliever

That was painful cutting him. He has been with the Edge since day one and was the lone bright spot on some dismal teams. There just isn't trade value for high priced talent! With 3 maybe 4 teams able to actually take his salary on, and most of those are rebuilding with no need for a 35yr old....Of course there is also Baltimore....my division rival...I was pretty much willing to give Trujillo away but not if he then becomes the missing piece in a puzzle for them to overtake me! Of course, he will probably sign for $8mil with Baltimore and play until he is 40!

I couldn't give away (or cut) Garcia so Trujillo was my only option. Keiran Browne is entering in his last arbitration year and was asking for a $26mi over 5yr contract extension. In a pitching starved league you do not let an award winning 26yr old pitcher get bargaining leverage. Had I waited until after this sim, I bet Browne's asking price would rocket up to $9mil or so per season. 26yr old Award winning pitcher, or 35yr old Award winning 1b man...Tough decision, but that extension was too juicy to let slip by!

Bye bye Carlos! I hope you enjoy life in Baltimore!

For some reason, this is one of the funnier posts I have read in a while.

Good luck in Baltimore!!!

Agreed with not paying too much for top talent, because you can't move them, so if you give the contract, you have to pay it.

Same thing with Aguilar. He's been my best player for a while, but his numbers have fallen off the past couple seasons, and he wanted almost $10 per eyar until he was 37. I gave him $8 M to 35, but that wasn't enough. Oh well, Dani, good luck in free agency! I'll go spend your bonus on a pitcher (I hope).

I asked about him earlier, but i got busy last night, hence my real sucky draft, and he came back with one of my good SP prospects which i was mulling over, however by the time i got the time to respond, the file was out and he had released him.

Funny that he thinks he is going to be in baltimore cause of that reason. There are more than a few teams with money to spend this offseason

It was a good post though

I'm just sayin' he can't do squat in Boston and I got laughed at the one time I offered him in trade thinking it may be the park, so to see him as #1 on the list is kind of a shock...

ya i didnt mean anything by it. I knew you were talking about your own guy, I was just trying to start some covo. I think this group has a lot of above average guys with one or 2 real studs. Im used to seeing 1 or 2 studs and average to below average guys. I can count at least 5-8 above average guys which shocked me.

You offered him for J.D. Blackmore when Blackmore was like 30. And I didn't laugh, I just said I didn't think it was fair.

Oh no...he wont sign in Baltimore for that reason. He will sign in Baltimore because god hates me. Two psyco ex-wives, Chris Pronger, Dany Heatley and now Carlos Trujillo...I look forward to his walk-off game winning grandslam in the 7th game of next years CL final!

Ya right...... You see, I think you and I are in the same boat in a lot of areas here.

You have me beat by one ex wife, id more go with football than hockey, and say Plaxico Burres and Joey Porter, and with fool id go with Hector Romero. However the catch with him is, as soon as he goes over to Chico, Buck leaves...... That makes it even thougher to swallow on top of taking a lesser contract offer of about 7 mil per year. I still scratch my head on that one. I was offering 19 mil per year and he went to chico for like 15 the first and 12 for the next 3 or something like that

I don't know if 'safe' is the word I'd use. I lost a 50 VORP guy, and his replacement in the lineup , went 0-16 in the playoffs at the plate
Trujillo is a career .381 hitter in 200+ post season at bats. Plus I LOVE HIM!!!! *lip quivers* It's like knowing my girlfriend is sleeping over at my best friends house!
