Lemieux's Final Farewell?

All signs point to last night's game being the last for Super Mario. His comments after the game seems as if he is content with going out his way. I honestly felt bad for the guy. I was at the game on monday night and you could just tell that he was leaps and bounds above the rest of him teammates. He just seem so down and frustrated with losing. I just hope hockey in Pittsburgh can survive a year without him. I will always be greatful to him for saving hockey in Pittsburgh. I would much rather see him retire than end his career on another team. As you will read in the article, he scored on his first shot on his first shift in 1984, and he had an assist with 10 seconds to go last night to end his career.

I had a feeling that was his last game before last night. I was out a bar last night and when SportsCenter lead the Penguins-Hurricanes highlights, I just had this lump in my throat and kept staring at the TV wishing they had turned on the closed captioning.

I was in high school during the Penguin glory years and Lemiuex was one of my favorites. I have tremendous memories of the two Stanley Cups, his unbelievable puck handling and the frustration of never knowing when he would play. I'll never forget when I learned he was coming back, but I completely understand if he hangs them up again.
