Gay Pride MONTH?

So my Simpsons calendar tells me that Gay Pride Month begins today. As is well known, I'm a pretty liberal guy who supports gay marriage and all of that kind of stuff. But is it really necessary to have a whole month dedicated to this? Are we that proud that we need to spend a month reveling in the pride of it? Maybe their should be a text sim geek month too? Funny button wearer's pride month?

Why not? We have a Black History Month, Asian-American History Month (just ended), etc, etc.

I do find it funny that gay pride month is in June which is a pretty hot month. Think about that.

I'm still holding out for a Heterosexual pride month. I think they call it Carnivale in Brazil. On second thought, that may be both sexual orientations all rolled up into one.

Aren't homosexuals like 3-5% of the population? Wouldn't a fortnight be more appropriate?

That's the plan for next year. She even said she'd buy, though I wish she could cook better.

The only thing I really like there -- the kookaburra wings -- have been as good as always.

Do you think this is a franchise-wide phenomena, or is this something you have noticed at the one you tend to patronize?

yeah, this deserves a whole month.

For the record I like the months focusing on historical tidbits from people that aren't white male americans.

Apparently from downstairs in my office building it is "Sexual Orientation Pride Month". So start putting up pictures of women to indicate your pride in being straight

Just in time for Sexual Orientation Month

The Washington Monthly

Quote:
Dick Cheney rarely takes a position that places him at a more progressive tilt than President Obama. But on Monday, the former vice president did just that, saying that he supports gay marriage as long as it is deemed legal by state and not federal government.
Speaking at the National Press Club for the Gerald R. Ford Foundation journalism awards, Cheney was asked about recent rulings and legislative action in Iowa and elsewhere that allowed for gay couples to legally wed.
"I think that freedom means freedom for everyone," replied the former V.P. "As many of you know, one of my daughters is gay and it is something we have lived with for a long time in our family. I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish. Any kind of arrangement they wish. The question of whether or not there ought to be a federal statute to protect this, I don't support. I do believe that the historically the way marriage has been regulated is at the state level. It has always been a state issue and I think that is the way it ought to be handled, on a state-by-state basis. ... But I don't have any problem with that. People ought to get a shot at that."
