That's a nice run.

Interesting loser of a comment left at the end of the article. Proves the "magic" that is the internet.

no, i don't play...

but a seven rolls pretty frequently, 5 or 10 minute rolls are considered good. this lady shot the dice for FOUR HOURS. i have been in the craps pit for over 20 years, and can count the 30 minute rolls i have seen on one hand...

i would have started with a $52 bet, which is the minimum on each number. every time a number hits, i'd use part of the payoff to press the bet a little....

so, if i was at the table and had a 12 dollar bet on the six........

every time a six rolled for FOUR HOURS i would get payed. most craps players will add a little something to the bet every time the number rolls. the first time it hit, i would go to $18, and then $30, $60, $90.......

just pressing a liitle bit, using the house's money i would have been at the table max ($3000) in 30 minutes....then i'd be getting paid $3500 every time a six rolled. i'd also have bets on the other numbers as part of my initial $52 bet, and i'd have been pressing them as well. by pressing every number a little bit each time it hit, i would have won quite a bit of money..

this was a little old lady that had ten dollars on the PASS line, with no place bets and she still won $700 bucks...

the table itself lost about $200k, which is nothing for a roll like that

In my experience after a table heats up it takes about 10 minutes in between rolls. Especially because every man and his mother has money on all of the exotic bets and I would guess partly because they try to slow it down a little. I wonder how much action really took place in the last 2 hours. (Or how many assholes tried to squeeze in and make a spot where one doesn't exist)

You work at a craps table so don't take this comment the wrong way but by going up in increments of $30 or so on your place bets you are talking 100 rolls of each of the numbers to get to $3000. I am guessing she was nowhere close to that. 240 minutes equals probably about 200-300 rolls total. (Including threes, twelves, winning sevens, etc)

So, she rolls 154 times before she sevens out. You need to make better than six grand a roll to cash a million from that run.

I confess I don't have much taste for fixed-odds games - so while it's definitely true that people tends to add to their odds bets once a number comes up, I can't help but wonder if many of them are doing so because (without thinking of it this way) they believe dice rolls are not independent events.

To get your standard $20-50 a roll type of gambler to cover every point available with the $3K table max each suggests a pretty huge commitment to "momentum" for this roller. Here, it mostly paid off, sure, but if you play dice games thinking you can win by jumping streaks, your gambling "career" is going to be pretty short, usually.

I can't help but think this guy is missing something fundamental about "gambling".

i know what you're saying, but i was just using those figures as an example. if i had $100 invested, after this lady shoots for even a half hour i'm up thousands of dollars. at that point, i would just start sending it in...

and i'm only going up $30 in the beginning. going from 12 to 18, to 30, to 60 to 120, im at 300 after if hits 6 or seven times/ then 600, 1200, 2400...

also the house offer 5 times odds on the pass line, and come bets which i would also have been betting...so, once you get to 2000, you can take 10,000 odds. hit a couple of hardways, you can get up quicker than you think. 4 hours.....

you guys are right, a million would be out of reach for me, and i will back off that statement after thinking on it. but most of these people never pressed a bet, and missed a nice opportunity to make serious cash..
