(Soccer) Real Ronaldo (or fat Ronaldo) is back, selecao next ?
Guy is my favourite player ever and now he´s back again, at age 32 and most recently after lots of eating mixed with scandals involving travestites and depression .
564 MATCHES / 394 GOALS now, that´s kind of incredible. In his early days at PSV and Barca he was soooo unbelievable, perfect mix of power, speed and finesse. Here his 2 goals in the brazilian league state final (their league system is kind of whack, but basically it´s huge competition in brazil) which are threadworthy wall by themselves, those are 2 great strikes. YouTube - Os 2 Goals de RONALDO-Scores TWICE-Santos 1 x 3 Corinthians pelo 1Âş jogo da final [HQ] And now there´s talk of him coming back for the selecao, even coach Dunga (who went on record saying he´d never have him back) has hinted at a possible return for the 2010 WC. Anyone else like the guy here ? Last edited by whomario : 05-04-2009 at 10:09 AM. |

Yeah, I've always liked Ronaldo. I was stoked when I got the job in Italy, and found out the investors also owned Inter Milan. That was right before the 2002 WC, and he was simply unreal for Brazil. When it came time for Serie A to start, he decided he didn't want to play in Italy anymore, and forced his transfer to Real Madrid. Since our office was next door to the Inter Milan offices, I had to fight through the daily crowd of Ronaldo protesters to get to work. I learned a lot of interesting Italian phrases from them.

italian cursing kicks ass I´ve traveled there a lot and have a good friend originating from there, so i can see your the apeal
Yeah, WC 2002 he was amazing, especially considering that he only came back like 2 months ealier after basically not playing for 1 1/2 year (came back in between but reinjured his knee 7 minutes into his first game, i was literally in shock at the time) . I love the guy. I got a real kick out of seeing him scoring last week for Corinthians, looking happy again.

In his prime, he was an astonishing player - which has been easy to forget these past few years. He mixed a certain directness for scoring with a lot of technique, to a level that was pretty unique.

Why? It's totally unrelated to soccer games and just as much related to FOF as 99.9% of what gets talked about in the "off topic" section.

Because we like to try to drive soccer traffic over there into our own little world...idk.
Wasn't trying to be snitty about it - should have probably said it with a wink.

End the segregation, bring soccer discussion back to off-topic and merge the baseball and soccer text sim forums into a "non-FOF text sim discussion" forum.
As a neutral I'd rather watch Ronaldo in the 2010 WC than Luis Fabiano or whoever else they'd select to partner that moody runt Robinho. |

like the most impressive game i´ve ever seen by a true striker, 100% unstoppable that night. And doing that against Argentina of all teams was just icing on the cake. Last edited by whomario : 05-04-2009 at 03:31 PM. |

I've always been partial to Rivaldo's vs. Valencia to finish the 2000-01 La Liga and secure a spot in Europe. The absurd game-winner puts it over the top.

And sorry for going off topic there. Ronaldo's been so out of the picture, I almost missed he got back after so many injury woes. Is he fully recovered and there is no return of the knee injuries scare?

IMHO, his knees are shot, and there is little chance of him returning to his glory form with any kind of consistency. You might get a brilliant half every now and then, but that will be it.

he strikes again :
YouTube - Gols de Ronaldo - Corinthians 2x0 Atlético-PR - Copa do Brasil 2009 06.05.2009 that move that forces the penalty is ridiculous And the penalty itself technically illegal but still badass Quote:
actually at times he was way out of shape. I´m agreing that production should matter more, but at times he did score goals but didn´t do anything else but when he was in shape he´d do more than that. Was never a playmaker or anything, but if you rewatch that highlights against Argentina and compare it with his WC2006 games that is like day and night.
