God Bless America?

Yay or nay?

This thing is one of my big pet peeves. Personally don't feel it has any place at the game. I already showed my patriotism before the game with the Star Spangled Banner. There isn't a tradition to playing this song at the games and don't see why they are trying to stuff it down our throats now.

{shrug} If the owner wants to, have at it. If he doesn't, I wouldn't miss it.

There's somewhat of a tradition in that it started after 9/11. That said, its run its course.

I still think it works in NYC for the 9/11 reasons above. Everywhere else, however, could phase it out with little outcry.

I'd vote if there were an option for "Don't care".

They should play it during each inning, on loop.

Playing 'God Bless America' --sung by Kate Smith, of course--began at Flyers games back in the early 70's when the Flyers first started to get good. They made a big deal of inviting Miss Smith to sing at their playoff games.

That said, its better than organs or taped playing of rock ditties only grade schoolers appreciate.
