Your Attention Please (war related)

Does the phrase, "if you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all" mean anything to anyone other than me? It seems that the backlash of negative smart-ass remarks surrounding the reporting of war news has grown to a very intolerable level. If you don't want to discuss the news reports with any type of maturity than simply keep your mouth shut. There are plenty of other subjects that are much less important and not as serious in nature as a situation that is costing people their lives. Many of us have friends and relatives in Iraq right now and the smart-ass comments are starting to wear thin while we continue to hope and pray for the best. Please stop already.

If you get rid of the smart-ass remarks the post count around here will drop dramatically.

I'd miss Fritz

Bee, I know that you are just joking around about the post counts but for those that would honestly think that way they should know that post counts don't mean crap compared to human lives.

Besides that, Fritz is not even close to the type of poster that I am referring to. He provides both lighthearted comments as well as intelligent and coherent thoughts, and you as well.

Seriously, I agree with you. There are quite a few posters that I tend to ignore although sometimes it's difficult.

I also didn't think you were talking about Fritz, but dangit...that's just too a good an opening not to take a pot shot at him.

I love to take bunnies and kittens and put them in a wire mesh cage and let them play. After I haven't fed either of them for about six weeks.

I'm not sure I will help your cause by posting, but I strongly agree.

Thanks John. Somehow I would tend to believe that the other posters in this thread feel the same way but are just having fun at my expense. I knew the moment that I mounted my high horse this morning that I would be made fun of but the point remains the same. If people would limit their involvement to the scope of their personal knowledge on a given subject then the conversations might not turn as ugly as they have so quickly. Some of the remarks made have been lower than grade school mentality, which is a shame considering the dire circumstances of what we are dealing with. I certainly don’t want to come across as being morally superior, however showing a little dignity and having a bit of respect and sensitivity couldn’t hurt.

Bumping this outdated thread simply because it seems to hold more relevance today than ever before. Some of the comments that have been spewing out over the past couple of days have just been down right absurd. The level of war discussion on these boards have not only reached an all time high in regards to quantity but also an all time low in regards to quality. We should all step back from our podiums and take a breath for a change. Maybe, just maybe the mood around here might lighten up a bit if we try to assert some common sense in our comments.
