I looked up people from north carolina on wikipedia. I learned 3 things that I wasn't aware of.

1) Michael Jordan moved to Wilmington, NC as a toddler, but he was born in New York.

2) Gallagher is from north carolina

3) so is clay aiken

I'm sad now.

Yup. I don't really want to claim Jackson, trail of tears and other pretty terrible things being his primary legacy to me.

Fair choice there with Murrow (could also throw Kurault in as a news figure, as well). But after that, yeah, you pretty much are reduced to sports figures.
