Poor kids being discriminated against for no good reason.

Calling kid Adolf Hitler Campbell takes the cake | World News | News.com.au

Quote:
Calling kid Adolf Hitler Campbell takes the cake
THE father of a toddler called Adolf Hitler Campbell says it is unfair that a store denied him a birthday cake with his child's name on it.

New Jersey man Heath Campbell, 35, has decorated his home with swastikas and says he is related to a member of the SS.

But he says it is the store that wouldn't write "Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler" on a cake that should be showing more consideration for other people's feelings.

"They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did," he told the Associated Press.

But the ShopRite store that refused the cake request says it did the right thing.

"We believe the request ... to inscribe a birthday wish to Adolf Hitler is inappropriate," spokeswoman Karen Meleta told the Express-Times newspaper.

The store has also refused to make a cake bearing the name of Mr Campbell's daughter, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell, who turns two in February.

Mr Campbell and his wife Deborah also have a daughter Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell, named for SS head Heinrich Himmler, who turns one in April.

He said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name".

"They're just names, you know," he told the Express-Times.

"Yeah, they (Nazis) were bad people back then. But my kids are little. They're not going to grow up like that."

"Other kids get their cake. I get a hard time," he said. "It's not fair to my children.'

Mr Campbell said he didn't expect the names to cause problems when the children start school.

The happy family:

Someone please tell me this story is a joke.

I love the AP article:

The Associated Press: Cake request for 3-year-old Hitler namesake denied

Quote:
"There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," the 35-year-old continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did."

Quote:
Karen Meleta, a spokeswoman for ShopRite, said the Campbells had similar requests denied at the same store the last two years and said Heath Campbell previously had asked for a swastika to be included in the decoration.

Quote:
The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said. About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race, according to Heath Campbell.

"If we're so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?" he asked.

Quote:
On Tuesday he wore a pair of black boots he said were worn by a German soldier during World War II.

HAHA!!

Do you love how, there are all of these random ass towns in the rest of the state that barely exist and it's like "wait, where the hell is that?" I know where the LV is because my parents moved there (I grew up in Central Jersey...) but it's still hilarious when I meet people from Jersey who are from towns I've never heard of and I've been around the state a good bit, though not anymore obviously since I moved away.

Does that happen to you or is that just my distant Jersey experience?

I remember back in high school sociology class we watched this really disturbing documentary on white supremacy groups. I distinctly remember two little girls, probably 12 at the time, being billed as the "white power Mary-Kate and Ashley." They danced and sang "pop songs" with lyrics about white power. It was incredibly disturbing.

Ahh yeah, I remember them. I think the family kept moving for some reason and they're currently living in Bakersfield, CA. The duo is called Prussian Blue or something.

I remember vaguely seeing the same clip, although I think I may have seen them on Nightline instead of either of the documentaries they've been featured in.

So, a little Googling and voila. Prussian Blue

They're 16 now and were apparently the inspiration for the show White Noise which seems headed to Broadway next year.

I only really knew the towns in Ocean County, so if they are from North or West Jersey, I probably wouldn't know the town anyway .

Yes, same for me--I never heard of Holland Township either. I guess for a lot of New Jerseyans that live/grew up along the Turnpike or GSP corridor, the rest of the state barely exists. Not only that, for such a small state, it's amazing how culturally different different parts of it are.

I've heard of it but probably because Saldana lives in Easton. Having lived in that area for a few years I can tell you there is a pretty large white power contingent and these people are obviously a part of that group.
