NFL Fantasy Week 4

Would you start Eddie Royal or DeSean Jackson? I think Jackson is used more, but I also think Royal has the better match-up...

Would you use Fred Taylor or Selvin Young? I think Taylor is the fairly obvious choice here?

I also have top priority on waivers... my QBs are Derek Anderson and Jake Delhomme. I was going to drop Andre Hall to get another QB, since I see a couple that I could use on a rotating basis. Jason Campbell, Trent Edwards, Kyle Orton... Edwards has an easier upcoming schedule, while I think Campbell is the better QB. Thoughts?

I think Jackson, Taylor, and Campbell are the way to go. Edwards as shown a little bit, but Campbell has been pretty consistent and should continue to stay that way.

Possible trade offer has come my way.

I give Ronnie Brown and receive Drew Brees

I have good running backs (LT, MJD, Chris Johnson) and Romo at QB right, but I think I could get more for Brown. Plus with byes coming up and injuries always a play away, even if Brown isn't starting, he is great for my depth (that is if he keeps up the numbers of last week and not the numbers of the first 2 weeks)

Thoughts?

I think if you have Romo, you shouldn't be trading for Brees. Brees' stock will come down over the next couple of weeks with Shockey now injured.

Good idea to have a separate fantasy thread for the week, to keep the NFL thread about the games.

Yeah I agree. If you're going to trade Ronnie Brown, it should be for somebody that can help your starting lineup.

Rivers. He's been hot lately.

The first scheduled bye hurts me this week. Why is it that every time the bye hurts me, it helps my opponent???

Agree with your agreement. Also, I'd trade Ronnie Brown while his stock is still high.

Brees scored 10 pts more than Rivers in week 1, and 1 point more in week 3 (although, Rivers scored 17 more in week 2). Brees got locked down by the Redskins, but other than that he has been pretty hot as well. The CBS "gurus" always pick him to score more points than Rivers.

Current RBs are Steven Jackson, Lendale White and Chris Perry. Do you think there is significant upside to picking up either Mendenhall or Buckhalter. We do have a transaction cost for the add/drop but it is small and would cost me in the waiver order.

Mendenhall has more long term upside I think....If I had Lendale White in my power trio, I'd take a shot at somebody RB wise.

Standard scoring (6pts/TD, etc):
Pierre Thomas v SF or Felix Jones v WAS?

Same scoring system different league, start 2 RB's:
Forte v PHI, Graham v GB, P.Thomas v SF, Taylor v HOU, Felix Jones v WAS?

I'm a homer, but I think the WAS defense is much better than San Fran - so I think I'd go Thomas.

The other one, I'd go Forte and Taylor.

Jones is one of those players that if I sit, he seems to do well, but I agree with you I think the Skins D might be able to contain him better than SF for Thomas. However, Jason Taylor is out, so how does that effect the D? In Dallas...hmmmmm...any of these variables change your mind or anyone elses?

As for the other one, right now I have Forte and Graham in. I will most likely go with Forte, but the second one I can't decide. Same variables as above but throw in Fred Taylor versus a suspect Houston D, and Graham versus the Packers D. Are they platooning Taylor and MJD now, and the same with Graham/Dunn?

They have been platooning Taylor/MJD for a while now, but they both still seem to get good yards. Dunn seems to be getting a little more action lately, but (sad to say) the way the Packers run D has looked of late, I think both would be good plays this week. I think Forte and Graham might be your best bets.

QB-McNabb or O'Sullivan(pending claim)? I have Ben too, but he's nto 100% percent

wr/rb/flex-I have gore and bush. Boldin and jennings would be my WR starters. I have Chris Perry, Hines Ward, Slaton, Desean Jackson for the flex spot. I'm leaning Slaton. Although Perry vs the Brownstains looks like a good matchup.

Ben has cost me the last two games, so he will be sitting on my bench too (probably starting Campbell instead)

I think McNabb has a better matchup than JT does. And Perry probably has the best matchup of the remaining guys (although I could see Ward or Jackson - probably more so Ward - being viable options as well)

Hey guys, I'm off to a 3-0 start with a team that I didn't love after the draft so I'm still kind of iffy on some things.

This week:

Favre vs. Arizona or O'Sullivan @ New Orleans (Hasselbeck is on a bye)

We score 1 pts. per 20 pass yards, 6 per td, -2 per fumble/pick, 1 pt. per 10 rush yards

Am I missing some explosion by O'Sullivan that is justifying people considering him over Favre and McNabb?!

I shifted around my lineup so I can use three RB's (one flex). So
Forte, Graham, P.Thomas, Felix Jones, Fred Taylor? Which three to start?

With our scoring system, he's put up 52 points to Favre's 59 so it's pretty tight in our league.

The explosion is Martz offense, and the fact that Isaac Bruce and Bryant Johnson don't look half bad so far.... not to mention that he has a good runner in Gore.

So, with Derek Anderson for sure starting... I'm scared to bench him vs the Bengals now. Remember their match-up from last year? If that happens again and I started Jason Campbell over him...

If you can pick up a decent backup QB on the waiver wire (ie: O'Sullivan or Trent Edwards for example), I'd do this in a heartbeat.

I'd say I'm impressed by O'Sullivan's relatively mistake free play, and the fact that it looks like he may look to be a bit of a runner.

I thought McNabb was hurt, but it doesn't appear to be the case. With a limited Westbrook, I'm definitely starting McNabb since they'll run probably 40+ pass plays.

Is Brady Quinn worth a flier on the waiver wire? I have issues at QB with Carson Palmer and Jason Campbell. I'll have an open roster spot thanks to Marc Bulger, but I'm guessing Quinn will cost about $12 with our bid system. My free agent fees are already what I planned on spending for the entire year. If Brady plays, would he be an upgrade over Palmer and/or Campbell?

Bye week blues for my son's first fantasy team, no defense active this week (Yahoo public league, default scoring).

One player from this list has got to be dropped to pick up a DEF, I'd like to see if there's a consensus on who it should be.

3 active/wk WR's:
Cotchery, Coles, Driver, Anthony Gonzalez and DeShaun Jackson.

2 active/wk RB's:
Ryan Grant, Chris Johnson, Julius Jones, Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai, & Chris Johnson

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't consider benching Brees.

But, he's down Colston and Shockey. He still has a decent matchup though vs. the 9ers.

My backup option is Trent Edwards, who has been OK...but has a great matchup vs. St Louis.

Do I dare bench Brees?

Is this trade as horrible as it seems?

Reggie Bush for Willie Parker, Javon Walker and Hank Baskett

I'm still iffy on DeSean Jackson vs Eddie Royal... I will be starting Jason Campbell at QB over Derek Anderson and Delhomme... but I am leaning towards Royal as my WR.

Because, even though it's Seattle that's idle, they project for a good bit more points the rest of the season than any of the available defenses and by a lot more than Jackson, Coles, or Cotchery, and more than James or Jones too.

That's the wrong way to look at it. The question is whether the difference Seattle versus some other team is greater than the difference in whatever player you drop versus the scrub you pick up.

There's no player of the 11 you list I'd be happy losing for nothing. You could pick up a different defense every week and do just fine fading the bad offenses.

Anyway I have Reggie Bush/LenDale White starting RBs this week. Currently Santonio Holmes/Lee Evans at WR with Isaac Bruce as the flex RB/WR.

White's questionable, but assuming he's good to go, I also have DeAngelo Williams on the bench. Do I go with a lineup of Holmes/Bruce at WR and Williams at RB/WR or do I keep it as is?

Also, is the Ravens D @ Pitt (without Parker) a better play or Vikings D @ Tenn? I'm really torn on that one.

Potentially interesting trade, I was to see what you guys think.

I get DeSean Jackson and Tony Gonzalez, he gets Chris Johnson

I have LT, MJD, and Ronnie Brown as my other backs, while I have Chris Chambers and Jerricho Cotchery at WR. My starting TE (Shockey) went down and I have Owen Daniels starting right now, so I could potentially get better at two positions, but I like the look of Johnson and I don't know if I really want to part with him.

Pass. Get a proper receiver for Johnson or even better Ronnie Brown or MJD. Plus Daniels is fine for a month.

FWIW, my son opted to drop Seattle's defense to solve his bye week dilemma.

Agreed. For a couple years I wanted to bring this up. I LOVE fantasy football, been playing since I was about 10, but there's nothing more annoying than when people chime in with "I can't believe I benched him this week" when people are discussing actual games. No one gives a crap about your (or my) team in those threads, trust me. I don't know if anyone is a subscriber to footballguys.com, but over on those forums they have a saying "point to the shirt" which is an emoticon type thing that's posted whenever someone bitches (or celebrates) their personal choice in starting one guy over another in threads meant to talk about actual performances. I'd love to have that incorporated here.

Sorry for the rant, but its a huge pet peeve of mine and I have a half hour left on this train with nothing to do .
