UNO Rules
Okay, maybe you all can solve a debate between me and my drunken wife (yeah, she was drinking and playing UNO...but she has issues)
So, she was claiming that if someone laid down a draw 2 card that the next person didn't have to draw 2 if they had another draw 2 to place on the discard pile. In effect, she's saying that it's cumulative till you run into some poor bastard that doesn't have one, thus ends up drawing 2 times the number of cards laid down. I'm saying you lay a draw 2, the next person draws 2 and misses their turn. Please tell my wife what I already know...she's crazy. |

Its a word card, you follow the directions on it.
Although, interesting home rule though if you did it like that.

I've actually played UNO with many variations, including the one your wife was playing by. Its stacking draw twos, and can get insane. It is however, an alternate rule and if you are strictly following the base rules, not allowed.
Who really plays these games by the base rules though? I thought just about everyone had house rules for UNO and the like. The stackable draw two rules goes that if someone lays a draw two on you, and you have a draw two, you can play that card to avoid drawing two cards. The next person then either draws 4, or plays a draw two which would then force a 6 card draw to the next person, or another draw two card play, and so on until someone doesn't have a draw two and has to collect a pile of cards. I've seen it go to 8 before, but I don't think I've seen more. Whats beautiful is when you can get it back to the person who laid the original draw two.

Yeah, I told her it's a family rule that she came up with. I've used some different house rules as well. Now she'll ask that this become our house rule...luckily her hotness does give her some points.

Hmm. I think when I played against my brother, we treated the Draw 2 as a Draw + Skip. So if I smacked him with a Green D2, I could then pile on with a red, then a blue, then a yellow...same with Draw 4s. Reverses could freeze out too.

I wouldn't necessarily say that UNO rules, although we did get robbed in the Sun Belt conference tournament on a questionable foul call last season.

Let's give a cheer for old UNO,
Fling out her banner forward we go, Come on let's carry her colors silver and blue, Shout out her praises true. U-N-O! Our Privateers will march on to fame, New Orleans glory they will proclaim, So let that U-N-O spirit frighten our foe, let's hear it for U-N-O! Whew, I got here late. Pumpy, I'm new at this threadjacking thing. Any tips? Do I need a moustache? |

We played with the house rule of stacking Draw 2's all the time.
When I played when I was younger, we'd combine the non-number cards out of 4 decks, except for a few numbers. Then we'd play super Uno. Basically, you could stack anything. Had 4 Draw 2's? Throw a Skip on it to skip yourself. Or a Reverse to turn it back on the player who just put that Draw 2 down. Or play a Draw 4 and change the color for good measure. You haven't played Uno until you're down to one card and have a Draw 24 looking you in the face... |
