Pet Your Kitty Today
So I lost my television remote this morning and as I was searching the living room I looked under my couch and found my cat wedged under there bug eyed. I pulled her out and she was completely lifeless, and not breathing. I was already debating what I was going to bury her in ( she's very obese, 20+ lbs.) but thought I would give her a few whacks in the chest and sure enough, that kick started her breathing.
She was still laying there looking pretty bad, but she started responding somewhat. So instead of getting the shovel out, I took her in to the vet. And what do you know, the vet calls and says she's gonna pull through. My only wonder is how in the hell and why the hell she wedged herself under the couch so badly she couldn't breathe? She is also damn lucky I was looking for my TV remote (and in turn, the drunk guy who slept on my couch last night lost the remote). She probably used up a good share of her 9 lives there. So if you have a cat, pet it today. |

Could've been, he was drinking Old Style. Yeah, Doc said I saved her by hitting her in the chest to jump start the breathing. I deliver calves on a routine basis and when I pull one out of the mother and it's not breathing, whacking it on the chest is always the first step. This time it worked for a cat. The whole vet trip is going to run about $1000 though. Last edited by lungs : 07-20-2008 at 06:56 PM. |

Yep, the bug eyes tipped me off. She didn't have those before she got down there. No pet insurance? If I was willing to spend a grand on my cat, I'd get that for sure.

Most Pet Insurance policies I've seen leave a lot to be desired.

Tell the vet to put it on the cat's bill.

Heh. No way I'd get pet insurance. If she had something debilitating I wouldn't put much money into her but an accident like this I guess I can pay for.
I cringed at the $700-1000 estimate but I blow my money on other stupid things. No harm in saving a decent cat. I just wouldn't plow money into a hopeless cause. |

True, but it's encouraging that it's offered at all. If it catches on, surely it'll improve.

The joke doesn't work unless it's a duck IMHO.

Maybe the drunk guy slept on your cat?

We have this vet credit card that has a pretty decent APR that we use in emergencies.
Good for you thinking so quickly and knowing what you know! |

Don't get so congratulatory. He often whacked the cat in the chest just for fun.

Let down of a thread.
After reading the title, I expected better (read: worse) from FOFC.

cats usually crawl off alone to die. i think the cat wedged itself under the couch expecting to never come back out.
