ROH, the premier independant promotion in the United States, a throwback to the spirit of the old ECW, it encompasses the best wrestlers in the world with the most intense, hard hittng action you can find. Lead by the "American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and the Briscoe Brothers, ROH has risen to the #3 promotion in the United States, and now it is my goal to somehow take them to the be the best in the world.

ROH Newswire: Friday, Week 2, 2008

- A week from tonight ROH presents to you, "The Showdown", which will be headlined by an ROH World Title match between Nigel McGuiness and "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson. These two men have had a bitter past and it is expected that it'll continue this Friday in New York!

- The carry over from Friday will head into Philly on Saturday Night when ROH presents "Pick Your Poison". It'll pit Byran Danielson and a partner of his choice vs Nigel McGuiness and a partner of his choosing. Expect more news on who each man picks later this week.

- Another big match has been signed for New York, as the Briscoe Brothers will take on Kevin Steen and El Generico in a match to determine the #1 Contenders for the ROH World Tag Team Titles.

- Expect more news throughout the week.

Showdown opens up with Chris Hero walking out to the ring as the crowd is chanting ROH. The crowd immediatley starts to boo as Hero takes a mic (C-) Hero tells the ROH faithful that since he came here as part of Team CZW he's had to deal with so much bullshit from everyone. From Gabe, from Cary, from the ROH fans, that he is putting his foot down and from here on out doing things his own way. So now is the time for the boys in the back to choose a side because if they're on the wrong side, they'll have to learn to live with the consequences! (C)

Mike Quackenbush defeated Jigsaw, Gran Akuma, Hallowicked, Tyler Black and Ruckus in 15:40 when Mike Quackenbush defeated Ruckus by pinfall with a Quackendriver II (C+)

Jack Evans and Delirious defeated Adam Pearce and Brent Albright in 14:41 when Delirious defeated Brent Albright by submission with a Cobra Stretch (C)

Larry Sweeney sets up in the ring for his talk show segment, "Live with Larry". He introduces his guest, Claudio Castagnoli. Sweeney proceeds to rip into Double C before he even hits the ring causing Claudio to run out and starting swinging at Sweeney. An irate and somewhat scared Sweeney dives out of the ring for cover and then tells Claudio he doesn't know who he is messing with! (C-)

Claudio Castagnoli defeated Jimmy Jacobs in 16:39 by pinfall with a Swi$$ Uppercut (C+) As Claudio celebrates his win, he is blindsided by Chris Hero who proceeds to beat the hell out of him with a chair. Hero tells a bloodied Claudio that his offer applies to everyone but him, since he turned on him once already, he won't let it happen again. (C-)

Necro Butcher defeated BJ Whitmer in 16:45 by submission with an Asiatic Spike (C+)

Steen and Generico defeated The Briscoe Brothers in 16:31 when El Generico defeated Jay Briscoe by pinfall with a Turnbuckle Brainbuster (C+)

Austin Aries comes out to the ring and says he is going to be the first ROH Wrestler to tell Chris Hero he can kiss his ass. Aries proceeds to lay out a challenge for Hero for Philly tomorrow (C-)

Bryan Danielson drew with Nigel McGuinness in 60:00 when the time limit expired. Nigel McGuinness makes defence number 1 of his ROH World Heavyweight title (B+)

- Coming off a war that ended in an hour long draw, Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuiness will wage war again, this time in a tag team match. Nigel picked his partner last night, deciding on one half of the ROH Tag Team Champions, No Remorse Corp, Roderick Strong. Meanwhile, Bryan Danielson decided to up the ante by shockingly selecting the Necro Butcher! So tonight it's McGuiness/Strong vs Dragon/Butcher.

- Also last night Chris Hero began an alleged war vs ROH and started it by taking a shot at his ex partner Claudio Castagnoli. Austin Aries was the first ROH Wrestler to give Hero a big "F You" and therefore tonight it'll be Aries vs Hero!

- Also coming out of last night, we learned Steen and Generico would be the #1 Contenders to the ROH Tag Team Titles. Since Roddy Strong is in the Main Event, it'll be a tag team war as Steen and Generico take on the No Remorse Corp of Davey Richards and Rocky Romero in a non title affair. Can this match give Steenerico the confidence they need going into their Tag Team Title Match?

The show openes up with Larry Sweeney hitting the ring wih a saddened expression on his ace. Sweeney gets into the ring without his usual gusto and then proceeds to tell the crowd that Chris Hero won't be here tonight to take on Austin Aries. Sweeney says Hero had better things to do rather then fight some second rate jackass, so tonight Aries gets a night off and will be able to save face! (C)

Mike Quackenbush defeated Ruckus in 15:54 by pinfall with a Quackendriver II (B-)

Brent Albright defeated Gran Akuma, Erick Stevens and Matt Cross in 16:36 when Brent Albright defeated Erick Stevens by pinfall with an One Night Stand (B)

Austin Aries makes his way out to the ring. He demands Larry Sweeney come out to the ring because one way or another Aries is going to beat someones ass tonight. Sweeney comes out and says if Aries wants a fight he can have it. Just not with him. Instead it'll be Joey Matthews! (C)
