2008 Golf Thread
Tiger is up by 8 in the Buick, the tournament he's won three years in a row now. Looks like that'll be four. Early in the year, but always nice to start off with a win and he looks good and relaxed. With his dad dying and the new baby, he's had a hectic few seasons, I wonder if he'll try to devote his game this year or at least, try...to focus his game entirely on golf and trying to do something historic as he heads towards Jack's record.

That putt that Tiger just sank was ridiculous.

It's -30 (-40 with WC) and it's been blowing snow all day...I can't get into the golf mood just yet.
But, lemme guess, Tiger won? |

That putt Tiger made (it's the main video clip on the front page of ESPN.COM right now) it's just not fucking fair. He putts the ball about a foot and a half-3 feet wide of the hole, it rolls past the hole wide, basicallydoes a U-Turn and comes in the back door, pretty much.
It looked like one of those cartoons with someone has a magnet below the green. |

Another guy comes out and says he can challenge Tiger's supremacy.
So what, will Tiger win by 15 strokes this weekend now? Way to go dude, way to screw it up for the rest of the field... |

This really isn't that relevant just yet...but I can't wait for The Masters this year. I got Monday practice round tickets and I can't wait to see the course first hand. I bought extra memory cards for my camera to load up on pictures.
I was at Oakmont for 3 of the 4 regular rounds and two practice rounds for the US Open last year. I suspect that Augusta will blow that experience away. |

Tiger Woods is not fucking human: Week 2..
Tiger Woods was in trouble. He was four shots back of the field, in seventh place after a horrible (by Tiger stadards) 73 in the third round of the Dubai Classic. to make things worse, he can't do much on the front nine, with two bogies offsetting any progress he made. Oh well, just a paycheck, right? Um.. No. Tiger woods goes into video game mode, birdies seven of the back nine holes, and wins by one shot. He's tired with blowing them away, apparently he's going for degree of difficulty points. |

This is my first golf season with my plasma, and good lord, like hockey, golf was meant to be watched in HD.

In the Match Play Championships today, Tiger was down 3 holes to J.B. Holmes with 5 to play. He tied by winning 14, 15, 16, took the lead by winning 17, then halved 18 for the win.

Match play Tiger is my favourite thing. Especially when he was a junior. That was awesome stuff. |

Yeah, I remember watching his final Junior championship. He was down 2 with 3 to play and won it.

And, after being all but out of it in 20th place at the end of the day on Friday, Tiger ties for the lead on Saturday, and then proceeds to sink a 24 foot putt on the 18th hole Sunday to win by one stroke, keeping him perfect in 2008.

In the old days, you just talk about needing par to tie. I love how he just changes the way the game gets played when he's on the course.

Everytime I watch Tiger do something like this, I'm truly ecstatic. I missed out on Ali, Ruth, Russell's Celtics, etc. but I get to watch Tiger excellence.

That was funny - Sergio just thanked Tiger for not being present.

Good for Sergio. He needed that. That putt on 14 was killer.
