Question OT: End of Season/Cup Questions

Next Sunday is the end of the season, right? That means the Cup starts WHEN exactly?

I am going on spring break next friday until monday, March 24. That means I will not necessarily be able to check on injuries and so forth to fix my lineup because I will be in Italy for that vacation (NO, not Italy, Texas).

So, I for once read the rule stuff and it didn't really answer my questions about how the Cup works, when it starts, when is the relegation game if I am in one, are there friendlies in the 2 week break....????

Someone with more than this season of experience, who has gone through this end-of-year stuff, I'm sure many new Hattrickers would appreciate any time/insight you could give.

There's an Italy, Texas? I didn't know that. I used to live by Paris though.

Do you have to ACCEPT anything for the March 23rd - Qualification/relegation matches? I'll be gone the whole week and don't know if I'll be able to accept/decline anything or set a lineup, etc...

If we don't have a qualification/relegation match, do we get to schedule a friendly or are we stuck with no game?

mrushh: You do not need to accept anything for the 23rd. Qualification/relegation matches are determined by your final standings.

BishopMVP: If you don't have a qualification/relegation match on the 23rd, then you have no match. It's a good opportunity to watch a match from another FOFC team though. I'm sure someone around here will have a promotion/relegation match we can all watch (it was ardent enthusiast last season).

There is an Italy, Texas and a Paris, Texas. Both are sort of near Dallas. Italy is on the way to Waco, and Paris is kind of on the way to Oklohoma.

If I can win my last game, I'll have one as well.

I may also have a qualification match, if I can win my last game. And I'd already have one locked up if I had won my last game - but I choked.

I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I accidentally inserted my backup wingback into a middle infielder slot (first names were right next to each other on the dropdown list and sometimes my mouse wheelie thing moves a bit on its own). Imagine my horror as I watched the game and saw my team's midfield getting blasted, and then checked the post-match ratings and saw a great big 1/2 star for my backup wingback-turned-starting middie. Got a nifty "wretched" rating for my midfield, and lost 6-2. Oh, the shame.

Talking

I love the fact that neither the topic nor any subsequent response in this thread makes use of the word "Hattrick." Yet we all immediately knew what mrushh was asking about.

The current USA division V automatic promotion cut off is at 34 PTS and GD +58, so I'm guessing after this week it'll be around 37 PTS and GD +50-55. More than that, you're automatically promoted, less than that, you have to win your qualifier (only 1st place teams, of course).

If you do get promoted, post in the team names thread with your new division info.

This reminds me of my 2nd favorite supporter feature (1st being the ablility to bookmark transfer-listed player AND have them sorted by earliest deadline first!). Numbering your players defaults them to sorting by number so I don't have to look at the names when setting my lineups, I just follow the numbers (I run a 3-5-2):

1: GK #1
2: GK #2
3,5,7,9 - Wingbacks in order of ability
4,6,8 - Central defenders
10,12,14,16,18,20 - Inner middies
11,13,15,17,19 - Wingers
21-24 - Forwards

So if my normal starting forward #1 (#21) is out, I know to play #23 in his place. Makes it SO much easier -- no more flipping between player screen and match lineups (what was my backup inner middies name again????).

OK, I'll stop now, I'm starting to sound like a salesman.

That's almost like the system I use, dacman.

1, 2 = GK
3 = Clown
4-9 = Defenders
10-19 = Middies
20-24 = Forwards
25 = Coach

My numbering system started out modeled after West Brom, but now it's pretty much random. New players get to choose from the numbers available.

The exception to this is keepers. They always gets #1 and #13, which pretty much seems to be a universal standard, at least in the EPL.

Heh, my numbering system is even more anal.

1 - keeper

Then, my starters go in numerical order according to the match orders form, left to right, starting at the bottom.

1
8 9 10 11
4 5 6 7
2 3

Clown has 12, and the scrubs get whatever they get.

My bank keeps telling me I have to be 18 to get a credit card, so I can't get it either.

My numbering system is scientific. When a player gets player of the game in a league game he gets numbered. This has only led to me dealing out 4 numbers in the Toads history.

And then when you're 18, they tell you that you have a lack of credit history. Really, who'd thought. You can't use your parents though and give them the money now or when the bill comes?

If I did that, I would only have one number issued.
