Kenny Britt is unreal. He went through a little stretch where he struggled catching balls away from his body (he's always been great at going straight up for balls), but he seems to have corrected it. That last play where he came down with the ball and got hit by 3 guys was great.

I'm not sure if it was Rice (I think it was), but the RB made an awesome pickup block on that sweep that Mason Robinson ran on the last drive.

It might have been Andres Morales.

BTW, on Rice's last TD run, Anthony Davis destroyed 3 UL defenders.

Might have been.

It was a beautiful play because the UofL defender was in the backfield and coming quickly to where the exchange between Teel and Robinson was and the RB blew him up.

I say that without remembering who it was...only because I don't think I've ever seen Ray Ray block anyone.

Another TD to Britt.

It was exactly like last year's game, only reversed and without all the national title implications.

I was there, it was pretty cool save the RU loss. They have a nice little stadium and the fans there aren't so bad. We tailgated at first with some UL fans we found wandering through the lots, then found some RU fans to tailgate with. We also snuck into the "official RU tailgate" tent and stole some food. The stadium is pretty neat and all the seats are pre-cast plastic, so nothing moves and it makes tons of noise when you hit it.

As for the game itself, it proves what I've been saying for the last 2 years, that Schiano is a great recruiter and fairly bad game day coach. RU has blown halftime leads in 3 of the 5 losses and has among the worst Red Zone efficiency in CFB. When we had 1st and goal from the 5 in the late 3rd early 4th and walked away with a FG, I felt that was the beginning of the end. Facing a swiss cheese defense, there's no reason to walk away with 3 pts. Plus, our special teams are horrific. I can't remember the last kickoff return we got past the 35 or 40, and having Ito in there punting the ball 30 yards certainly doesn't help either. It was just a horribly coached 2nd half and the team fell apart yet again. If he thinks we can go forward next year without Rice and his inconsistent game planning, we're in for a shocker.

After driving I-35 yesterday between Dallas and Austin, and heading south of Austin this morning a little ways to pick up my load today, I have a couple of observations.

Oklahoma: Most of their fans traveled on friday, no jobs? They seemed to have sent their worst drivers down to San Antonio. I got a kick out of it though because I knew those assmunchers going 90 and weaving in and out of traffic were going to come to a dead stop once they hit Austin and waste over an hour getting through it. Sure enough, 4:00 PM and 20 miles from downtown and traffic came to a dead stop. HAHA!

Missouri: I saw many more of them on the road this morning then I did yesterday, and it was in a much shorter period of time. They must have jobs and started driving at midnight last night to be here right now. They have some crappy drivers, but Oklahoma was worse. Missouri fans travel cross country with little tiger tails hanging out of their trunks. Very cool. Sooners should have an ass hanging out of their's.

Because of these observations, I am rooting heavily for Missouri.

Tennessee scores on a nice opening drive, 7-0, but LSU is quickly back down threatening with Perriloux starting at QB.

edit to add: And under 3 minutes, BC down 23-16, facing 4th & 4 just inside the VT 15.

Pick six seals it for VT, 30-16.
Meanwhile exchange of punts & some effective option play by LSU has them on the Tennessee 11.
But the drive stalls, another Colt David FG pulls LSU within 7-6 with 3:06 left 1st quarter in Atlanta.

Boston College really sucks in the clutch games. They will never win the ACC especially in football. I sure hope the ACC paid BC a ton in cash because leaving the Big East was fucking stupid. They now are competing against college teams (VT, Clemson, Florida ST. etc) that have semi pro teams and have a lot of support legal and illegal .They really would have been staying with the syracuse and rutgers group academically they fit in better if you know what I mean.

LSU goes for it 4th & 1 from the Vols 30 ... Hester gets stuffed by little Eric Berry, the freshman DB from Creekside HS (not all that far from the Georgia Dome).

The academics isn't the issue. It's not like BC isn't recruiting their fair share of academically and ethically challenged players, there just isn't the support for college football up here in the Northeast to support the salaries for top assistants or the recruiting base. I'm impressed with how BC is consistently well-coached and maximizes its talent to go 9-3 and be a lower Top 25 team, but they just don't have the base to break into the NC contender tier without catching lightning in a bottle.

It's a pity that Tennessee doesn't have DB's that play the pass as well as they play the run.

Poor guy missed on a million dollar throw in the Dr. Pepper halftime contest. Pressure killed him on the 25 yarder after he was 10-for-10 in the short throw round.

LSU out in front, 13-7, as Tennessee's secondary fucks up yet again.

Win or lose, five game winning streak or not, they've got to be the worse coverage secondary I've ever seen in the SEC. They play the run pretty darned well but can't cover two grandmothers & an elderly uncle.
