NFL Week 13

Kicks off tonight with a great game that 80% of the country will not see.

Assuming I have the opportunity to watch some TV tonight, this game would be Option B or C at best. There's a Wings' game on and there is also the Louisville/Rutgers game on ESPN. I've seen more than enough of the Packers and Cowboys this season. I think I will be "ok" missing out on this one.

You're exactly right, Kang. This does suck. I'm a big Packers fan, yet I can't even watch the game in my own house tonight because the damn NFL and cable company can't come to an agreement! A game of this caliber should never be on the NFL Network anyway. Just think of the ratings of this game! Packers-Cowboys are two of the more popular teams in the league and they're both 10-1 this year. This should be on Sunday Night Football or on an afternoon Fox game. If the NFL Network wants to show games, they should have to show games that nobody would watch anyway like Jets-Dolphins or Rams-Raiders.

I really hope that the Patriots are 15-0 going into the last weekend and the perfecto game is on NFL Network. That'll show them to put important games on a channel nobody gets.

That's kinda the point, though. The more important games that end up on NFL Network will give them leverage against the cable companies. I'm sure theyll be getting complaints tonight. People won't care whose at fault, they'll just want the cable companies to get it done.

This is true, but it will also be used as fodder for the cable companies. I like that this is happening. Hopefully it will put pressure on both sides and eventually one of them - I don't care which - will cave.

The point is that the network shouldn't be showing games. If they want to show them, they should show the crap that nobody else wants to watch on Sundays or it should be accessable to everybody. So you're right, hopefully this will cause them to cave so it does become more accessable. That's why I hope the Patriots are 15-0 going into the last week. They'll get another wave of calls from people that week as well. I don't care who caves. I'll pay extra. Just get a deal done!

I would watch the game if I could but I would not be depressed that I can't. There is enough sports on TV tonight that suit me just fine. Plus you guys do better play by play than Gumble.

You guys should have joined us in the Comcast thread yesterday...

Let's go Rutgers! It really bothers me that this game had so much potential and means nothing today.

Oh, go NFL.

Well I don't have Comcast. I do have the NFL network on my cable company's digital package. I guess Knology still has not paid to show the games. Oh well.

BTW, Bryant Gumbel sucks. I'd rather have Barney Gumbel giving PBP. He said that the Packers were coming out when the Cowboys came out onto the field.

Bryant Gumbel is terrible! I can't believe he is back. This is horrible. He has the amazing ability of making amazing things sound as exciting as eating leftover meatloaf.

All true.

The bad news: you don't get NFLN.

The good news: you're not subjected to listening to Gumbel conduct a broadcast from the HBO studio.

I think cable companies are trying to spare the public from the Gumble/Collinsworth broadcast duo.

Gumble has mixed the teams up at least 3 times so far.

I feel very strongly that this will hurt the NFL in the long run.

I don't care whose "fault" it is, but the less accessible you make the most popular game in the nation, the more you hurt yourself.

Thats 4 for Gumble. The NFL should have teams wear something that makes it easier to identify which team is which.

True dat. I've got other things to do tonight anyway, but if all the games on Sunday were unavailable for some reason, I'd get by. Maybe I'd start watching the NBA again, who knows.

Agreed. The NFL doesn't produce a good enough quality product for me to purchase. If they ever get to pay-per-view only, which I believe they will at some point in the future, I'll never watch pro-football again.

I was rolling at that one. I wonder if he even knows what comes out his mouth. These guys are almost driving me to turning off the TV and turning back on the internet radio feed.

Oh and the only way I'm seeing this is my totally awesome uncle, who has a slingbox. I love that thing.

Bryant Gumble/Cris Collinsworth are quite possibly the worst broadcast duo in history. I think I would rather have a color commentary/play by play duo of Sigfried and Roy than these two.

Sorry, this is not good for the NFL, not good at all.

Perhaps the tiger can break up Gumble/Collinsworth before the end of this season. Gumble vs Tiger would be a video that I would pay to see.

Just to add to this...

I don't see a time when I care enough to pay money to get the NFL Network, let alone to make some stink to my cable company or whatever. I'll just watch the same number of NFL games I always have and have a few games a year that I can't watch. If the Redskins are on the NFL Network they'll still be shown locally.

Again, bad news for the NFL. I have to imagine that a large majority of Americans that watch the NFL feel the same way I do. Hell, I bet a lot of them didn't even know this game was on.

Just saw the halftime highlights, the redskins lining up with 10 men on defense on their first play was very moving and fitting, I didn't know they were doing that.

Minnesota is rolling, and for some reason I am kind of glad. Those Lions were a little full of themselves, they are falling back to where they belong.

Jacksonville is disppointing me so far.

Eagles are trying to stick with the Seahawks when it looked like Seattle would roll for a few minutes there.

Redskins only had 10 men on the field for their defense on the first play of the game, very cool way to honor Taylor.
