College Hoops 2k8: Hail To The Victors!

This will be an open legacy done with the University of Michigan Wolverines. Generally I void using them for dynasties in games for whatever reason but it's different in Hoopes because frankly, they're a team that needs to be better so it's a challenge. This will follow us through the collegiate season and then around the same time I'll sim in NBA 2k8 for the draft classes as nothing more then a GM.

Thanks to EF27 for these slides (Blatantly stolen from his dynasty)..

The setting may change, but for now they are:

Half Length: 20

Sim Half Length: 20

Injuries, Transfer, players go pro early are all enabled.

Game Speed: 40
Player Speed: 40
Real FT, Team Unity, Sixth Man, Clutch factor are all on.

Charging fouls at 100. All other fouls at 85 (very likely to change as needed.)

All shooting sliders at default for now.

Blocking attribute down to 45 for both sides.

Offensive Rebounding also at 45 for both sides.

Energy Fatigue Rate at 55 for both sides (which I believe will lead to more fatigue)

Injury Frequency and effects at 60 for both sides.

Note: I'll be simming every other game.

You should have good success recruiting if you stay in state, there are usually a bunch of good recruits in Michigan (in real life and in game).

2007-08 Michigan Wolverine Roster

Starters

PG: Jarrett Smith (JR) - Smith excels at defense and passing, but will never be a prolific scorer. When he does get to the line he is going to knock down most of shots but he isn't a great driver. We'll need him to run the show but not do too much. C+ Potential, 70 OV.

SG: Manny Harris (FR) - Harris is a true freshman who can slash to the bucket and make you pay every time he has the ball in the hands. The 18 year old Michigan native will be expected to lead our team in scoring from the get. A - Potential, 71 OV

SF: Ron Coleman (SR) - Coleman is our best overall player and our only senior in the lineup. He does everything very solid but will be exoected to be our guy behind the arc to rain some threes at crunch time. C + Potential, 72 OV

PF: DeShawn Sims (SO) - Sims is an undersized PF at 6'8", 225, but he is a hustle guy who can play physical inside and score in the paint. His defense will have to improve with the level of talent we'll be playing in conference but he is a guy who has every chance to be a top guy. A - Potential, 70 OV

C: Ekpe Udoh (SO) - Udoh is a defensive special ist. He has a chance to be the Big 10's premier shot blocker and though limited offensivley, because of his hustle he'll get some second chance points. B - Potential, 69 OV

Bench

PG: Kelvin Grady (FR) B - Potential, 69 OV
PG: C.J. Lee (JR) C Potential, 62 OV
PG: David Merritt (SR) D Potential, 55 OV
SG: K'Len Morris (SO) B - Potential, 64 OV
SF: Anthony Wright (FR) B+ Potential, 68 OV
SF: Jevhon Sheprd (JR) B+ Potential, 67 OV
PF: Zach Gibson (SO) C Potential, 61 OV
PF: Kendric Price (SO) A - Potential, 67 OV

We open the season vs the Radford Highlanders in a game we should win with relative ease. The game started out 7-7 with Radford playing us tough but they didn't have the guns to keep up with our hot shooting team and soon the game was a blowout as we stormed to a 52-28 lead at the half. We use more liberal subbing in the second half enroute to an 87-59 victory to start the year.

PG Jarrett Smith was POTG with 16 pts, 11 ast and 6 reb
SG Manny Harris had 15 pts, 3 asst, 4 reb
PF DeShawn Sims had 10 points and 7 reb

Up next is 1-0 Brown. They're solid defensivley but offensivley they leave a lot to be desired. Once again, we open strong, racing to a 47-33 lead at the half. The highlight of the first half was SR Ron Coleman starting off 5-5 from beyond the arc to put us in a great position early. The second half was boring basketball that saw Brown amp up the pressure but fail to make many shots, leading us to a 2-0 start with a 71-61 win.

PG Jarrett Smith had 11 points and 3 assist
SG Manny Harri had 9 points, 5 assists and 3 boards
SF Ron Coleman had 21 points and 6 boards
PF DeShawn Sims had 10 points and 7 boards

Up next is a huge test @ #6 Georgetown

Playing in a packed crowd at the Verizon Center sends our team cold from the bat as the Hoyas rush out to a remarkable 15-2 lead and from there the first half was theres. They go into the break up 34-19 and we have no answer for Hibbert down low.

The second half we play much better, actually winning the half 24-20 but in the end falling 56-43 in a sloppy game.

Hibbert had 19 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks for the Hoyas.

Ron Coleman lead us with 11 points.

We are now 2-1 and we're off to Alaska for the Great Alaskan Shootout.

In the opening round of the Great Alaskan Shootout we take on 2-0 Butler, a great 3 point shooting team. We lose the game 77-60 as Butler thoroughly massacred us in the first half, outscoring us 40-19.

SG Manny Harris scored 15 points
C Ekpe Udoh scored 12 points
SF Ron Coleman and PF DeShawn Sims each netted 10

Butler F Coleman lead all scorers with 21 off the bench, going 6-7 from 3.

The loss sends us to 2-2 and we now face E. Washington.

We meet E. Washington in the first of two consolation games today. E. Washington is 1-4 and lacks any true legit playmakers. This is a must win, and thankfully it's a should win as well.

Early on E. Washington gives us a handful but soon both teams trade baskets for a majority of the quarter and we head into the break with a slim 30-29 lead. Thankfully Ron Coleman heats up and we start putting the game away in the second, closing it out with a 7-0 run to give us a 62-52 W.

Ron Coleman had 16 points and 3 assists
Deshawn Sims added 10 and 5
Jarret Smith contributed 11 points and 5 assists

We get a shocker as Gonzaga fell in the first round of the tournament so we meet them in the consolation game.

Coming into the final game in Alaska, we play a 4-1 Gonzaga team who is ranked 14th in the Nation. They have a solid starting five and a great reputation. This is our third game vs a ranked team, and we hope to finally get off the snide and win one.

Thankfully, our shooters are hot early and we go out to a 46-37 lead at the break. The tempo is in our favor and we're getting to the line putting their bigs in foul trouble.

We keep rolling in the second half enroute to a huge 86-72 victory to push us to 4-2.

Ekpe Udoh had 16 points, 3 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks
Manny Harris had 14 points
Jarret Smith had 10 points and 9 assists
Anthony Wright had 10 points off the bench.

We take on 2-2 Boston College next. I won't go into the gory details but they romped me 85-55 behind double figures from six of their guys.

Manny Harris led us with 15 points

We go to Cameron Indoor Stadium to take on the Blue Devils who sit at 4-3 and have struggled to find consistent play all year. We keep the Dukies looking for answers with a convincing 74-64 win.

Ron Coleman put in 16ints
Kevlin Grady added 15 off the bench
Manny Harris had 6 and 5 boards

We sit at 6-3 going into a game vs the Oakland Grizzlies
