I have $30 to spend... which text sim do I buy?

Despite my activity in FOFC, I have actually been out of the loop of playing sports text sims. The only commercial sims I actually have are TEW, FBB, and a very, very, very old FOF2.

Opinions?

Yes, quite the insightful reply I would expect from the FOFC. I should have known better.

Hell, he could probably afford seven hookers and his own distillery.

I was thinking he should put at least half of it in a Roth IRA.

I had numerous technical problems with BBCF that completely killed my enjoyment of the game, but others seem to have not had the same trouble.

I still play TCY to this day. Despite all the complaints they get, I still think TCY and FOF2k7 are the two best text sims out there.

I think that currently BBCF is the best football sim out there. I wasn't that impressed with it right when it came out, but retried the demo a couple months ago, bought it and have been playing it quite a bit since.

BBCF is great. As is TCB. Any "college" type game is great if you like the "reloading" type thing, because your roster can never get "stale." You constantly need to recruit.

Its always safest to have multiple copies of FM in case you lose one or more of them in freak dishwasher related incidents ...

(runs away giggling ... sorry, was woried this thread might be getting too serious )

To be honest I think a lot depends on what your favourite sports are - that has to be at least a biasing factor.

TCB looks interesting. With the release of DDS:CB looming near, I wonder if it would be more prudent to wait.

I'll be downloading the BBCF demo.

Does anyone have DDS:PB? I see that they released a new patch last month, does it fix most of the initial problems with the game?

Agreed. I must admit I enjoy this game immensely for both single and multiplayer aspects. And it has been addicting as hell since I am desperately trying to improve the status of the school while trying not to get fired.

I seem to remember a while ago that BBCF had some problems with polls being a little out of wack. Has that been cleared up with the latest patches? I've tried the demo a couple times and it's never grabbed me. I think part of that is probably not wanting to get too attached to a one year demo. With college football around the corner, I could see getting into it if it's pretty well fixed up though.

bbcf is an...interesting gaming experience. fbcb blows away all the sports sims out there to this day. I'd put ootp second on the list.

I wondered the same thing because when I last read about this game it was only so-so. Sounds like a great game from what everyone is saying here.

given that it all begins and ends at FM and you already have '07, the obvious answer is to save the money and buy '08 when it comes out.

Yes, this game is pretty good. Still has some bugs but all in all is a nice game. I would still go with BBCF though especially with college fb coming up.

In addition, there are two communities (FOFC-BBCF and Total Sports World/Gridiron Glory) that you can go to if you have more questions, or want to pick brains from the online gamers.

The FOFC-BBCF link is up above, in Dodgerchick's post. The GG site is www.gridiron-glory.net .

i don't play BBCF (i don't like college games) but i'm of the opinion that it's tough to go wrong with an arles game (assuming the game fits your preference).

I completely disagree. I have never been a soccer fan and never enjoyed the sport at all. WSUCougar sent me an old version of FM05 and I was hooked. I ended up purchasing WWSM07 and it is by far the best sim I've ever played by a factor of 10.

I even enjoy watching soccer now - Go Rangers!

I know this question wasn't directed at me, but I feel I can answer it. It depends on your level of immersion. I can't speak for FOFC-BBCF...but, I can say for GG...we're doing recruiting for the 2011 season right now, and between that and the radio shows that I do with Cooley (last night's show was three hours long, tonight will be around 90 minutes)...I'd say 10-15 hours a week is spent on my end on the league.

I guess my answer would have been the same as the "desert island" one. Buy FBCB and then download OOTP5 for free. Those are the only two that I have been playing the past 4 years and don't see that changing in the near future.

May I suggest cartman's league if you decide to buy it: http://www.fofc-bbcf.com/league/reports/index.htm

The Mountain West has 1 more team available, in case you're interested
