WAKA - First Game tonight

So the wife and I joined a Adult Kickball league with a bunch of friends to make up the team "AM Lumber". Tonight is our first game and I am excited. It seems that the league focuses on drinking and flip cup moreso than kickball but it is going to be a blast. Most of the girls playing are above average looking and tend to wear very very tight clothing. Permission to look at girls in tight clothing granted!!

Anyone else play?

I'd like to play, but I can't really find the time to drive an hour each way to/from Pittsburgh for kickball. It looks like fun, though. I recommend taking lots of pictures and sending them to me. kthx

This screams for a dynasty with lots of pictures, Flasch.

I've lost about 20 pounds in the last 3 months. Once I lose a few more and gain a bit more mobility back, I'm going to join an adult kickball league in Baton Rouge.

What's kickball? I picture it as soccer-baseball.

As tk said, that's a good way to put it. Basically, it's baseball, but they use a large rubber ball that the pitcher rolls, and then the "batter" kicks it.

i have learned that I suck at doing dynasty's...I not only disappoint myself but anyone who actually stumbles across one of my half-hearted attempts. I hate my own dynastys.

As I clicked on the thread...my thoughts were "This is going to be absolutely retarded" But now for some reason I really want to join an adult kickball league...Is the league I join guaranteed to have drinking and good looking girls?

drinking yes....even on the field as long as its not openly flaunted, so a big rubber mug with a lid is fine, you earn pts. for the game, you earn points for flip cup at the sponsor bar, and points for showing up at parties. The girls cannot be guaranteed though.

unfortunately it didnt rain hard enough to get the effect I was looking for. We did win 6-2. I scored 2 runs and had 2 RBI. My particular highlights were:

I was on 3rd and the batter hit it back to the pitcher and I was forced to take off for the plate. The pitcher turned to peg me out and I had to Pete Rose slide under his throw to slide into home (this was in the first inning so I thought I might have a good night)

I was playing shortstop and a pop-up was headed behind me but shy of the outfield so I took off after it. I was very very nervous that an outfielder was coming in and we'd collide but I made the over the shoulder catch and wasn't in any danger of getting crushed.

HOWEVER, the best play of the day was when a kind of geeky guy on their team kicked a ball towards 3rd and ran safely to first. He yelled, "Stop, stop...My glasses fell off." So their entire bench is up looking for his glasses along the basepath and we're starting to head that way too to help when I noticed and said, "You mean the ones hanging around your neck?" yup, dangling in his shirt neck. That was awesome for him to yell "STOP EVERYTHING" only to have them there.

Ashley was terrible.....terr-i-ble.

update:

We got our asses kicked by Kobra Kai. We look like drinkers who are playing kickball while they looked like pros. It was ugly and I knew it would be bad from the get go when I led off with a bunt (which, if done right is usually successful for a base hit) and the catcher seemed to be on top of me with the ball in less then a second. How? I havnt a clue but he seemed to be 10 feet out from behind home in an instant. We got killed and Ive noticed a decline in the hot factor of the girls out there. Perhaps they noticed a lower quotient of good looking guys so stopped coming but it is foreboding nonetheless.

we stink....

I am too competitive and supposedly some of the girls think Im a jerk because Im deflated when were doing poorly. My wife said she understands me and that when I say I'm having "Fun" because we're competing she says "...but you don't look happy". I replied, "Im not happy but Im having fun because were playing." ....I know people who love sports understand this but apparently Im having difficulty grasping the whole "Lets just have fun and drink" concept when we're keeping score. I said, "Let's not keep score" and my wife and roomie said, "Of course we have to keep score...and we want to win." So, in my brain, Im stuck.

I just cant win and Im sure that im in the wrong on this one. I thought that I could just go out there, have fun, and be happy losing but that 3rd leg Im having a tough time with. Like I said, the fun is from the moment Im driving to the game, playing the game (competing), until Im driving home....but I have a hard time being "happy" when the other team hits a home run.
