I've heard Nascar 08 and APF demos are up? I'm at work, is this true?
I've been waiting for the APF demo and well, Nascar is a perk. |

Major Nelson's website says 'yes' to both.

I'll be looking for reviews of the NASCAR game. There are some good driving games out there, but I miss playing NASCAR.

I didn't much care for the build I played at E3. Maybe it's just a very different game with the wheel versus with the controller, but I felt like I had no control over my car.

APF is worth a checkout from me as well. Wonder how long the demo is?

NASCAR left a lot to be desired for me. I'm not a NASCAR guy at all but the game didn't seem to be real fun to me.

I just tried the NASCAR demo with an M$ wheel and I thought it was OK actually. Not great, but OK. I think with sensitivity adjustments it might be much better.
Some people have reported problems with controls, namely spinning out. I actually found the car in the demo to sort of understeer for me. It's weird (but cool actually) that you have to hold the wheel to the right to keep the car going straight -- due to the car setup. One gameplay thing I did notice that disturbed me is bump drafting, or the lack thereof. The demo is at Daytona, yet every time I touched an AI driver's back bumper or they did mine, it caused sparks and damage! Hello?!? I'm not talking plowing into them either, you know "bump drafting" like at a 2-3 mph speed difference. *sigh* That USED to work in the previous NASCAR games. The wife is a huge NASCAR Fan, so I'll probably get the retail version anyway, but I admit on first glance I was a bit underwhelmed. Maybe it will grow on me. vette - a lot of the things you describe happened to me at E3.
I played that for about 10 minutes, tried fiddling with all sorts of options, and then had to make excuses to the dev for why I was moving on to something else. I'm not optimistic. |

Geez, I just found out at OS that NASCAR does not have a true offline career mode either. That seals the deal for me. Think I'll take a miss until it hits the bargain basement shelves at least.
