Quotes of the Moment

I'd like to know what everyone thinks of all the new quotes.

Personally, some of these are great. I particularly enjoy the one liners.

However, some of these, and I'll not mention which, just make me wish we didn't have quotes of the moment. I tire of looking at some of these quotes that make no sense, that have no humor, that have no reason to be there, that are not quotes but speeches.

If I only had a delete quote button.

Overall, however, I do enjoy seeing most of the quotes. Just clear out the glut!

There are two types of FOFC posters: Those with girlfriends, and those with Kleenex's

-Easy Mac

While classic, I find it amazing that this quote still comes up multiple times a day on my screen, even though we've added tons of new quotes But really, it is still the example of the perfect quote. Short, sweet, to the point, and quite witty.

I wish the link which allowed me to view all the quotes and submit new ones worked. I also agree with radii that the Mac quote comes up suprisingly often.

In the FOF Admin Panel, the Admins can 'moderate' all new incoming quotes. It looks as if they accept anything, so that's why some may not be good are in. But what can you expect, for them to judge whether a quote is funny or not?

I find there are many good quotes in QotM.

FWIW, there are 110 quotes in the database.

There are many good quotes in QotM, and you've certainly got some good ones up there yourself. I think we may need more attention to what we're nominating for QotM if the admins accept anything.

Some of these, well, just don't cut it.

I think we should be more selective with the QOTM, personally.

I think that there are good ones, and ones that aren't that funny. I do like it though.

It certainly beats out the three or four QotM we used to have. I remember last year when I first found this great forum seeing the QotM and thinking that it was an awesome feature.

I even refreshed it to see what cool quotes would come up. I still like the one about Hell Atlantic. After a day or two, I noticed the quotes didn't change, and gave up.

I love the feature. I agree, not all of these are the greatest. The 3 of mine that are there aren't even close to my best work.

And, I think with so many up there, we're hesitant to submit new ones that may be even better.

maybe we need some QOTM Survivor?

That would be nice! We could group 10 bad quotes...and one by one pick them off. The winner would be the one that gets to stay in the database!

What a great idea!

Alas, it would probably fall into the "better not" category. Too many egos, I am afraid.

I wish that we had the ability to turn these off completely if we wanted to. Being forced to see them day in and day out on each and every forum wears very thin.

Only cool people should get quotes posted. How's that sound?

I'm not a prude, but I'd like to see fewer locker-room type quotes about naughty bits and defecation and more classic humor or well-phrased material.

Not true. I've deleted some. Our semi-anarchist other mod probably lets everything through though.

From the point of view of a heavily quoted person, it would not bruise my ego at all.

How bout if you nominate a QotM it goes into a poll with 3 other quotes...then we do a sorta hall of fame vote once a week to see which quotes get in?

My mistake. Blame the foreigner.

Actually, I remember looking through the list of recently accepted quotes in the Panel, and I saw a quote that had absolutely no humor in it, and I had wondered why that one had made it through - it looked like a normal comment!

That pretty much describes most of them...

From the point of view of someone who has just one, and a sympathy one at that, I wouldn't mind if it gets cut. I tend to agree with most, Easy Mac's quote seems to come up more often than any other (although "Sampled much dry cat ass?" is pretty popular on my computer as well), and there are a few quotes in there that just don't cut it.
