Of course they got bonuses, they did exactly what the White House wanted them to do: provide political cover for the tax cuts. People that would lie to congress in order to sacrifice care for war veterans for tax cuts to the wealthy don't just grow on trees. You have to keep those people around.
Same reason the White House isn't demanding Gonzalez resign. He did what they told him to do. |
