BCS Championship Game discussion thread

To kick off the discussion for tonight's game, check out the state by state results for the ESPN Poll question:

"How does your interest in tonight's BCS Championship game compare to last year's Rose Bowl between USC and Texas."

Surprising results...

I'll tune in while I play Civ IV. I think I am more interested this year because I get to watch the game.

Last year I had to work at the bowling alley and only got to watch the last 5 minutes when the place had emptied out. I guess if I got to watch any part of the game, those 5 minutes were good ones to see.

My guess is people are less interested because everyone thinks OSU will walk over Florida. I am hoping for a competitive game. I hope OSU doesn't blow them out.

Honestly, I don't even know if I'm going to watch any of the game tonight. I'll probably check the score periodically online, and if it's a close game in the fourth quarter, I'll turn it on. Otherwise, I'll probably just be playing something on the Xbox 360 durin the game.

To all of you who will be watching, I hope it's a good game.

I'll likely watch after I get home from the gym around 9pm. Hopefully the game is boring or a blowout, so i won't feel guilty for firing up the PS2 shortly after halftime.

According to that poll, only 44% of the people in Florida are more interested in the game tonight than last year.

Ohio State v. Florida for the Title, this is like asking who was your favorite, Stalin or Hitler?

I'll be pulling for a surprise announcement from the NCAA at Halftime of tonight's game, giving each of these programs the Death Penalty beginning immediately, and then giving the National Title to the only eligible undefeated team in America, the Boise State University Broncos.

As an SEC fan, I'm definitely interested this year... I'm very curious to see how this plays out and will be happy if UF wins despite hating them, if nothing else so that I can laugh at st. cronin ..

However, I'll say now so that people can't say I'm just saying it if UF looks bad - I just don't see how playing a game almost 2 months after your season was over is a true indication of which team is better. It seems more of an indication of who handled the layoff better. (and yes, I'm aware that OSU's layoff is a couple of weeks longer than OSU, but my point still stands overall)

So, what you're saying is, even if the Alligators win tonight, I can still call the SEC overrated?

But that is the official name. The Fiesta Bowl was a separate game last week.

I guaran-damn-tee you that if Georgia was playing in the game you'd have no problem calling it the "Tostitos dipped in Pace Picante Sauce washed down by a cold Coors Lite BCS Championship Game Bowl brought to you by Fox".

I have no real interest in the game. I will watch college basketball and check out the BCS game during the commercial break.

And I hope OSU kills the Gators.

For me, I saw last year as a pretty special case, and was pretty interested in the game, despite not having a serious rooting interest. This year I find the matchup substantially less compelling, but since I root for OSU, I'm very interested again.

I wish they'd freakin' list the actual kickoff time... ESPN shows the game starts at 8:00... I flip from a College Basketball game I want to watch at about 8:05, and it's still talking heads with one of the bands playing in the background... *grumble*.. I want to know when to flip back over...
