Wow. Only played with this for about 15 minutes but this is GREAT.

If you read several blogs on a regular basis, you can subscribe to them through google reader and they will appear in google reader. Kind of like checking your emails only the emails are blog entries. I love it.

get the firefox plugin that tells you when you have new feeds. And the greasemonkey script that puts the feeds in your gmail, so you can check them all from one screen. Also get the script that lets you add a searchbox to google reader to search your feeds.

I have been using RSSOwl for my blog needs. It seems cool but i have heard some good things about Google Reader. I may check it out.

I enjoy reading them. LSG pretty much asks the same thing when I tell her about a blog that I read. I use them to pick up on financial advice. Basically I just read them with the intent of generating ideas.

I've been using it for maybe a couple of months and yeah, it's pretty good, very useful.

As to if blogs are interesting, like MJ4H said, not all blogs are. I read mostly blogs or people into martial arts telling about their training. Many of them read like a real life dynasty report...

The main thing I like about Google Reader is that I can incoroporate it into my google home page. It's a beautiful thing.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Lifehacker - One fo the best technology blogs. I go here for the latest gadgets, web 2.0 applications, etc.
Tips From the Top Floor - digital photography blog/podcast.
Coolness Roundup - Another technology blog, but this also has a very good podcast.
I Should Be Writing - This one is mostly a podcast, but there is a blog that keeps track of show notes and external links. Pretty good show since she does some good informal interviews with current writers.

I use to use it, but I haven't used feeds in ages. If Google had a clue in regards to G+, Google Reader would have been incorporated in a way to make G+ stand out. Saying that, I would have used it if I still were into feeds. I Used Bloglines but I believe that died some time ago so I was forced to switch.

For some reason they are unable to import from google reader right now... the message says that all import spots are full. imagine that.

(Google is focusing on fewer products? That's a good idea... but they're likely to get the few they focus on wrong.)

As for which products Google focuses on, I doubt they would necessarily get wrong the ones that would make the most money

. From what I've read, Reader doesn't get many hits, esp since a lot of folks now go to Twitter for quick news.

I would love to be a master at twitter and understand how it can possibly replace my RSS feed. I'm sure there are much more efficient ways to utilize Twitter that I don't grasp. I have certain MLB reporters and what not that I am sure can translate across to all the other various areas I like to follow, yet even those people feel the need to flood random shit about what they had for breakfast.

Yeah I'm going to be struggling to find a good replacement for Reader. All the apps for my phone use it to sync the feeds I want to read. Hopefully they will update to use something else before Reader closes shop.

I think I just missed certain things like tumbler, reddit, rss feeds..etc I guess I just go to like gizmodo instead of having the rss come to me. I'm probably missing out

I finally got The Old Reader to upload my Google Reader subscriptions. I got the following message

I dabbled with feedly for a bit before reverting to Google Reader even though I knew it had a limited time left. I finally found a news reader that comes closest to GR - commafeed.com.

It's got a simple interface and mimics some of GR's features. Migrating data settings was easy too.

Being using feedly too. As well as readability, which I like even more than RSS. Found commafeed recently and that works okay.

The Old Reader I didn't like as much because it forced you to download your own subscriptions.xml file from Google Takeout and I'd rather just click and have it integrated.

For some reason when I start up Chrome there is a mini tab for Feedly.

I think that is the chrome extension, which until this past week was necessary to access Feedly. Now you can go to cloud.feedly.com I believe and can get rid of the add-on. I THINK
