Wish I was traveling to Vegas today (BYU Football!)
That way, I know I would be watching my Cougars tonight in the wonderful Las Vegas Bowl!
The tempers have flared, both teams have disrespected each other, and Belotti has fired the first shots saying BYU couldn't beat any team in the top half of the Pac-10. Here is hoping the Cougars trounce the Ducks tonight!!

Belotti is an idiot. After you guys beat him get ready for the back handed compliments and implications that it was the Ducks losing, not the Cougars winning. My favorite of his, "we didn't lose, we just ran out of time." Of course, "the better team lost today" was a great on too.
Rest assured, the entire Oregon State fan base is right there with you cheering on BYU. |

Oregon +150
They wont need the points to cover, its an outright win. So take those points out of your pocket and put em in your wallet to pay for the trip to Vegas.

Not your typical Christmas destination, but the old lady and I wanted to avoid anything family and just have some romantic fun. |

Not surprisingly, ESPN is oblivious to the fact that BYU plays UNLV here every other year, and they sometimes come close to outselling UNLV in tickets. Their fans travel well. |

Belloti would be well advised to keep his mouth shut. He won't have Gordon Riese in the replay booth tonight. |

Take that first half defensive ass whipping up your pipe Belloti, and I hope to hell your QB's see the interview of you blaming them for the first half problems.
Put a leash on your D-line and their dumb ass penalties... Go Cougars!! (3 JW Dundee's Honey Brown Lagers in me, 3 more to go!)

Eat shit and die Belotti...The cougars proved themselves a bit tonight..
I am not crazy like a bunch of the BYU fans saying there are only 4 or 5 teams that could beat us. I will flat out say though, if we wouldn't have started out slow, we would have been BCS busting with Boise. Anyways, I raise my last drink tonight to some future NFL prospects coming out of Provo....Beck, Harline, Coats, Jensen, Kuresa, and Kehl.

Toasting with you Dennis, great Win, we should end up top 15. I actually had a chance to get Tix, but I had to cover the Christmas Holiday at work so no time off for me this week. All in all a great way to cap off a great Season, good to see BYU back......And Belotti can go fuck himself, then shove his comments, putrid new Helmets and ugly Uniforms up his Ass! |

Bellotti technically could still be correct, because Oregon wasn't one of the Pac 10's top half teams, especially by the end of the year.
Way to represent the conference, Ducks! This reminds me that I would still like to see the Pac-10 expand to 12 to draw even with the Big12, SEC and ACC, and adding BYU and Utah (if they would consider it, and I think they would) would be terrific additions, IMO.

oregon is in a tough spot until they find someone there. byu is a much better team, although 30 points is a little surprising. |

I know both teams would be more than willing to join. But I know I have read several articles that the PAC-10 is happy where they are at. Belotti's comments and attitude was what made this victory that much more sweet.

I was surprised to see Belotti come out this way. I don't recall him being known for making comments like these. I'm nto sure what inspired him to do so now. I have read those same articles about the Pac-10, and really, it comes down to them being complete morons. This is the conference that has us locked into a largely awful set of bowls (not to say Las Vegas, Emerald, Aloha, Sun are bad bowls, but we're not talking Jan 1 bowls here) and broadcasts our basketball on a largely regional network (Fox) instead of the bigger exposure ESPN. They're also the ones who run our horrible officiating crews. I'm not sure there is a worse run major conference in college sports, at least in the big sports like basketball and football.

I love starting the morning with little inspirational sayings like this. It puts a smile on my face for the rest of the day. I thought you and BYU 14 would enjoy the following comment, which was posted in response to the game write up in the Portland Tribune: Ok everyone lissen up here. Next year, things are going to be a little, incy, weencie, tiny bit different here at our program. We've laid the groundwork with the locker rooms, they are soooooo coool. x-boxes! and doors that make this cute little shwoosh sound when you open them. Next year, it's not only our fashion sense coming out of that closet. It's the hole dang team. YESSSSSSS. we are soooo exthited. You say lycra, we say silk. You say hit hard, we say yeah baby! We are fashionable, proud, and oh yes we can be mean tooth. It's true. So everyone, just loosen up, but sit tight. Next year is going to be a real tootsie pop! Cheers everyone, hope you enjoyed the game. Those prude mormon boys really hit hard.... Butt, they were sure cute weren't they! Bye Now... Cheers. "SoreKneesTomorrow" |

Wow, apparently someone was really dissappointed with that performance. Now that I have claimed down form the win, it was really strange to me he did make those comments. I met him at a Coaching clinic a few years back and he just didn't come off as the kind that would make comments like he did...Real pleasant guy to talk to and hung around after his presentation and socialized for quite a while. Obviously he would want to do this to make recruiting inroads, but still, seemed real nice. Let me add about the game, this was a perfect example of Gary Crowton's weakness as a Coach, and why I am so happy we have Mendenhall now. Gary is a great guy and a very good Offensive mind, but he could be stubborn when it came to play calling and scheming. To me, Oregon's strength was running the ball and I was worried they would hurt us running their spread option game. New Mexico was able to run effectively against us utilizing this scheme quite a bit and Utah was able to do just enough with it to open up their passing game. So, I figure Crowton lobbies to start Dixon and run him and their 2 Tailbacks down our throat til we stop it. First play of the game, Leaf in......Flea Flicker.....WTF. What was Crowton thinking?? We had a starter and his backup out at Corner and another who played against Utah suspended. In addition our other starting Corner has been playing with a Shoulder seperation and is not a very physical player to begin with. So Gary is going to get the ball outside to his big receivers and exploit this no matter what. Well Leaf is not mobile, BYU was able to get pressure and the patchwork secondary held together. The only real time they threatened to show any Offense was when Dixon was in and they were running spread option from the gun or he was scrambling, but Gary still refused to stick with it when they still had a chance to catch up. I can't tell you how many times he did this at BYU, Mendenhall knew it and schemed his Offense well. Great Season Cougs, now if we can only find a way to replace all the Offense we are losing for next year..... |

I was just checking out our schedule next year, and UCLA actually plays the "new Pac 12" schedule, if you know what I mean. We play both BYU and Utah in out of conference games. Go figure. Our third game is against Notre Dame, so that's a pretty tough OOC conference, IMO.
Had to laugh when I saw we played both of the main Utah teams next year after this thread.

BYU will be reloaded at wideout, TE, RB, our main questionmark next season will be QB as we have 4 true freshmen waiting in the wings, however, I know Cade Cooper from Snow Canyon JC was thinking about accepting on an offer to play so we would have a decent QB in case the freshmen weren't ready. Defensively, our entire DL returns, 2 out of the 4 LB's, and we have several options at DB coming in.... As for Utah, they will still suck.

Ouch, a freshman QB when we'll have one of the nation's best defenses next year that specializes in putting on pressure? And it's at the Rose Bowl, too. That's going to be a tough game. Still, it's so far away right now. Who knows how each team will look going into that one.

It looks like Max Hall will probably be the guy and he has been getting rave reviews, though it is only scrimmage, he has a RS Freshmen this year, but could not play due to NCAA transfer rules....It is hoped that he can take the team for 3 years, but we do have some nice prospects in the pipeline if he stumbles. His saving grace will be an experienced O-line and enough playmakers on Offense that he won't have to carry the team. Cooper would be a good addition for depth, I don't see him beating out Hall though. |
