Digital Cable rules

Just got it installed. VERY nice. Being a game show nut, having GSN is much appreciated.

I've had digital cable for a while, and now I'm and addict. I go crazy if I can't check what's showing on every channel at the touch of a button!!

I listen to the music channels when doing things around the house, comp. stuff, and getting dressed. It's much better than listening to stupid freakn' morning shows on the radio or TV.

But, my favorite part of DC is setting reminders of shows, so I don't miss a thing!

I had digital cable. The quality (or lack thereof) was the primary motivating factor for me to switch to DirecTV. Well, that, and the fact that DirecTV was cheaper.

Thank you TimeWarner - I'm now a committed satellite customer.

Ugh. I can think of about 12034720472758265053743829 more reasons to have DirecTV than for Tigers games.

Without the Extra Innings package $140 for the year, those games are blacked out on DirecTV. You can purchase the package on most Digital Cable systems.

What's digital cable? What's a cell phone? What's an internal combustion engine?

I live in the very back woods of upstate NY. I'm looking forward to entering the 20th century in a few years.

Did you watch jeopardy tonight? My friend was on and he won for the second time in the teen tourney. He is going to be on again thursday in the semifinals.

I find myself searching for the "guide" button all the time on the remotes for other TVs.

I hear ya pal. It must be nice to be rich and live in an area where you can get it. My poor 32" TV I won at my wife's company picnic is just being wasted, except for the DVDs we watch.

For those of you with dishes, do you have any problems with the weather? Out here every time it rains we lose our reception

Amen. The major reason why we went with the dish.

You have to be careful though - when I first got it I hopped between the games so much I felt like I hadn't really watched any of them. Got too into seeing what the guys on my fantasy team were doing.

I have it set up so we get basic cable throughout the house, and have DirecTV on two tv's, w/o the local station package. Works pretty well, and if the weather has knocked out the satellite signal, we still have some TV.

I have had DirecTV for four NFL seasons (this is how time is measured with DirecTV). I think I have lost signal three times in that time due to weather. Basically only the very heaviest of rainstorms knocks mine out. Luckily this has yet to happen on a fall Sunday.

Henry is right, don't get it for the Fox Sports package. Everything you might want to watch is blacked out - all pro sports and from what I understand, they are now blacking out college sports that they sell via subscription.

This would make since then. We have those kind of heavy rains about once a week in this part of the world.

We had DishNetwork for two years, and I thought I'd never go back to cable. Here we have Time Warner Digital and it beats the heck out of DN!! Our dish went out every time there was thick cloud cover(once a month or so)-cable has never gone out, and we have HDTV and local channels, too.

I love it, I go back to my parents and go nuts waiting for the channel with the tv list to scroll by...

I love it mainly because there are some decent channels for everyone in my family.

I do listen to the music channels, but not often.

Yeah, Digital Cable is great. The on screen guide is great, especially since you can scroll through only movies/sports which start at a certain hour. Also got to love Games and Sports which brings back some memories of great Nick shows such as Legends of the Hidden Temple and Nick Arcade. Noggin also has Clarissa, Ghostwriter and Pete and Pete.

I have not bought any of the package deals for sports, but NBAtv is convienant to get stat updates. I sometimes listen to the music channels, but I also watch VH1 classic sometimes for music. They actually have some pretty cool videos of some obscure stuff, even going back to the 60s.

not now - never had a problem at all.

but when we FIRST got it...we had the dish installed in the fall, when there were no leaves on the neighbors big-ass tree. Come spring time, and poof - even the slightest breeze and we'd lose signal. we put up with that until NHL playoffs, and then moved the damn dish

I would never pay for cable. I prefer the "Old Jiffy Pop Pan" trick. Wire that bad boy to the cable input, and you'll be in Lawrence Welk heaven......free of charge.

Just to let you guys to know you can get every fox sports channel by ordering the Sports premium. Its just like HBO or Showtime except you get every fox sports channel and the NBA channel I think.

Yea it does suck when your in a place like Chicago where it is often cloudy but 90% of the time my dish still has pretty good reception on the cloudy days.
